There's a new article about a Michigan hardware company, Martin's Hardware, celebrating 40 years of business. In that same article, Unsolved Mysteries and John Burns are mentioned.
What does this have to do with a hardware company? Answer: In 1970, John Burns went to this store to buy some ammunition, claiming that he wanted to scare off a dog that was barking in his yard. Instead, he used the ammo to kill his estranged lover, Eleanor Farver. John Burns was profiled in a pre-series special of Unsolved Mysteries, which aired in the spring of 1987. Just days after that broadcast, he was captured. Burns was eventually convicted of second-degree murder in the death of Eleanor Farver, but he died before he could be sentenced. http://hometownlife.com/apps/pbcs.dl...05/1086/NEWS19 |

Interesting, nice find. They did interview someone from the hardward store in the segment, I believe his name was Bud. He mentioned how he sold Burn's the bullets that he later used to kill his ex. I always thought he seemed pretty bothered by the fact that it was him that sold them to him but of course Burns didn't tell him the reason he wanted the bullets.

How odd they would want that sort of thing associated with their store.

CD, you can download VLC media player (the one I use, it's free!) and there's a screen capture function, it's really easy to use. Just pop in a dvd and you're ready to go! ![]() |

I wonder about the hardware store that was in the Angelo Desidero (misspelled right?) case. You know, the guy who killed him went to a hardware store and bought a shovel and pick I think. He buried him out in a field and the later gives the tools away to some people. Now I wonder whatever happened with that hardware store.

I was watching this case with Farina today. I was surprised to hear him say that after 20 years of marriage to Anna Burns was when John Burn's affair with Eleanor began. I rewatched the original Karl Malden version and didn't hear him say that at all. I wonder if that was correct. I was a bit surprised that they had been married that long.

I always felt bad for Anna Burns. I have often wondered what became of her. I would imagine she passed away long ago. I believe she was living in an assisted living facility at the time the special aired back in '87.

The reenactment portrayed Anna as a weirdo, but I felt bad for her as well.

Yes you couldn't help but feel sorry for her. I tried to find an online obituary but no luck as I'm not sure what town she was in. You have to love that evil little laugh she has after she says "I'm his wife".... ![]() |
