Default I'm Getting All 4 Wisdom Teeth Pulled

In 4 hours I will be at the dentist. I'm a bit nervous and starving since I can't eat before surgery. Any advice after it's all done?

Even if you're not in pain, take Advil ASAP. That way you can avoid it in the first place. That's what I did when I had 2 of mine done. I'm going to have the others soon.

I agree. Advil was the only thing that helped me with the pain, and it worked well. The doctor suggested that I take 3 at a time.

Make sure the doc prescribes hydrocodone (vicodin). It'll come in handy after the fact.

Don't be horrified when you open your mouth and see a murder scene on your tongue. When I woke up after having mine pulled, my tongue was dry as hell and tasted funny. I didn't find out why until I got to a mirror.

You'll enjoy the hydrocodone... don't suck through a straw... listen to what your body tells you as far as eating foods. I was eating solids within 8 hours of having my teeth pulled. Heh. Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly.

Am I the *only* one who never had anything other than a very mild burst of pain right afterward. (And that was without getting knocked out). I hurt just a tiny bit after the anesthesia wore off, took a couple Aleve, and it didn't hurt again.

But yeah, pain pills are your friend. :-) (I was prescribed Vicodin/hydrocodone too, but never took it. Don't know why [this was a couple years before I started watching House, too...])

House pops 'em like candy. Hee. I wonder if he actually takes extra-strength hydrocodone... these guys are amazing.

Mmm. I want hydrocodone again...

I had all 4 of mine taken out over Labor Day weekend 1997. That was no fun.

I had the first two done when I was in my 20's and they had to do some cutting to get them out. That was a longer recovery, way more pain, and a lot of eating from a blender for days. Then a few years later I had the other two taken out and they were just pulled out. What a difference! Almost no pain afterwards and I had fried chicken for dinner that night (I had it done early morning). So if you're just getting them pulled it could be smooth sailing for you once you take your Advil. I bet you are since they're doing all four at once. I bet it won't be too bad.

Good Luck! My son is supposed to have 2 wisdom teeth taken out this summer, & he's not looking forward to it either.

My doctor suggested 4. Only thing that worked. I got a script for Tylenol 3 and it made me sick.

Oh god...I was so sick of blender food, jello, and ice cream. I never wanted solid food so bad in my life.

Yeah, I got Vicodin, and it did nothing for me.
