Unlike most shows from other eras, Many shows were videotaped in the 70s and early 80s....but which ones were filmed? Some that come to mind:
Mary Tyler Moore The Brady Bunch Bob Newhart (I think) I like the look of film SO much more. |

"The Odd Couple"
"Happy Days" "Laverne & Shirley" "Rhoda" "Phyllis" "The New Dick Van Dyke Show" "The Partridge Family" "Mork & Mindy" Personally, I like tape more, I don't really have a preference. I just feel closer to characters on tape...

Yes, the Bob Newhart Show was filmed, and so was M*A*S*H. The Brady Bunch was filmed, too!

I personally like the filmed look better - it seems more intimate and cozier, for some reason.

Yeah....in syndication, film can look worn and dirty (if not kept up), and in that case, the videotape looks a little better. But when it comes to DVD, if the film copies are cleaned up, remastered, etc., they look much better.
It would have been interesting to see Norman Lear's 70s sitcoms on film. |
