Default Rupert Everett Trashes Hollywood Stars: "All Just Tragic Parodies Of Themselves"

British actor Rupert Everett has launched a scathing attack on Hollywood legends Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, branding them "tragic parodies" of the icons they once were.

The 48-year-old insists the film industry has deteriorated into shallow, celebrity-obsessed "trash" - and blames its biggest players for perpetuating the trend.

He says, "De Niro, (Robert) Redford, (Diane) Keaton, (Woody) Allen, Pacino - they're all just tragic parodies of themselves. Al Pacino looks like a mad old freak now. I say give it a rest, or go and do some serious stuff."

But the My Best Friend's Wedding star reserves his harshest criticism for American actor George Clooney.

He adds, "Clooney thinks that, provided he does films which are politically committed, he's allowed to do Ocean's 11, 12 and 13. But the Ocean's movies are a cancer to world culture. They're destroying us. He's not the brightest spark on the boulevard. He'll be president one day. Mark my words, if he's straight, he'll be president."

Rupert is just jealous that nobody will hire him after that awful film he did with Madonna

I know someone who's not being invited to Clooney's New Year's Eve party.

LOL!!! I am no fan of the Oceans movies, to me they are nothing but a bunch of out of control egos joined together. But.... anyone who has The Next Best Thing on his resume is one to judge anyone else's movie choices

I don't see the point in bashing the stars he did. I agree we live in a culture where celebrities are as vapid as they come. But trashing Britney, Lindsay and Paris who are famous for being trainwrecks more for then being talented is another thing than trashing people like Diane Keaton, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and others who are seasoned vets and award-winning actors because every now and then they might do a movie that isn't quite as prestigious to their resume as Annie Hall or The Godfather.

Yeah, like MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING is one of the greatest films ever.

Gimme TAXI DRIVER or THE GODFATHER as films at their best with three of the greatest actors to grace the screen (DeNiro, Pacino and Keaton).

exactly, most people just think of Rupert as "that gay guy who is friends with Julia Roberts and Madonna and they were nice enough to put him in their movies" (well, I dunno if it was "nice" Madonna put him in one of her movies )
