Default Xanadu, why was it a big flop.(soundtrack was awesome)

The sound track Xanadu, but the movie floped, even though it had Olivia Newton-Jon and John Beck. The soundtrack was a big hit songs like"Magic'"Suddenly' with Cliff Richard and the ELO side "I'm Alive" 'all Over The World' And the animated segment 'Don't walk Away" I think the dirctors wanted to be like MTV ,or they were thinking that the success of Greas withON-J It would have been a major hit. but,not true. If they made a remake again would it be a big hit or not?

Actually, MICHAEL Beck is the actor who played Sonny Malone. I have seen the movie multiple times (), and I have to say I LOVE the peasant dresses ONJ wears! They did make Xanadu into a stage musical, which I understand was well-received. At least Xanadu was a WAY better flick than Two of a Kind.

You're right, the soundtrack is awesome! Both the ONJ and ELO sides are terrific.

Yeah, but it's no Staying Alive, that for sure.

I saw that movie in the theatre when it was first released and I remember it was hyped up pretty good then just didn't seem to meet all the hype. I didn't think it was that bad though, I enjoyed it at the time, as well as the soundtrack. The story was a little off the wall at the time, and it seemed like a mistake for Gene Kelly, but still enjoyable.

I don't care, I LOVE Xanadu. Olivia Newton-John was on top of her game right at that moment of time, it was right after "Grease" and right before "Physical", so it was when she could do no wrong. The soundtrack is awesome and the movie is mindless fun. I love both the ELO and Olivia songs off the soundtrack.
