Arrow Episode4

Impressive. The Captain had actually begun to slightly grow on me until she told Jinny off like that, I think I woulda slapped her. I would have hated to have to ride around with her all day like that...UGH! I loved Jinny's expression in these few scenes:

Captain: I'll be in unit 607

Jinny: You're riding with me.

I loved that little scene. Jinny hated the thought-who can blame her.

Then the scene in the car:

Captain: ...I knew him from my days on the street

Jinny: You sure he's still up and moving around there, Cap?

Captain: Do you think that is a smart thing to say considering our personnal history?

Jinny: Nah, probably not...

LOL! I loved it!

And then the scene where they were at the car dump talking to Carl:

Captain: You know how I get when people waste my time.

I LOVED Jinny's expression. I could just hear her saying, "I sure do!"

And last but surely not least:

Captain: Thanks for the push back there, I owe you one.

Jinny: It was just a reaction...Actually I enjoyed it.

I loved to see them sorta going at each other

This was a pretty good episode. We learned that CD can't have kids, and she actually-almost- congratulated Angela on her milatary knowledge...that might be one for the record books. And I thought I detected a 'slight' sentimental moment between the two when they were waiting for that lady to bring them a picture-just a slight one. At least they weren't going at each other's throats full force.
I also liked Magda in this episode. She was cool, too. Is it just me or did he kid change from the first episode? It looks like a compeltely different little boy...anyone else notice this?

Oh yeah, and when Jinny charged in like that, do you guys think it was Nancy kicking the door in and then kicking the gun out of the guys hand? Just curios...I think it was though.

And one other thing-I keep remembering things. Did anybody catch the little wise remark Jinny made when that FBI dude was showing them the floorplans? He said the kid was in one of the backrooms and then he pointed to them. She said something to the affect of:

Jinny: Oh yeah, bedrooms, ok.

I wonder if that remark has anything to do with what she does in her 'off' time...

All in all it was a good episode IMO. I can't wait until two weeks so we can see what happens with the cop getting shot and such. I wonder how good ole' Cap will write up that report. Hmmm...

What did everyone else think of this episode?

--------------------------------

Magda: What would you do if a guy didn't call?

Jinny: Breath a great big sigh of relief. Unless of course I liked him. Then I'd hunt him down and slit his tires.

ks-
Glad you started this topic. I noticed, too, that Magda's little boy looked different...maybe a little more hispanic looking?

Anyway, here are my comments*(note I really did enjoy the 'Kidnapping' episode. Anything negative is just constructive criticism on my part.):

1) I never realized there were so many palm trees in San Francisco. Of course, it's been a while since I've been up there.

2) The cases so far have been easy to figure out. We didn't know who had the baby at the end but it was obvious that the kidnapper's girlfriend had the information.

3) Ok, here is an opinion I know will be unpopular but here goes.....Nancy is playing a messed up character in Jinny and she deserved the butt chewing she got from the Captain at the end of the episode. Jinny put herself and Magda in danger along with the other officers that were at that stakeout. It wasn't Jinny's call to storm in at that time. I think the captain has to take responsibility for the other officers and, too, I think that if she had made such a bad call years ago when she was probably one of the very few woman detectives on the force she would've been fired without getting any reprieves. Jinny doesn't understand yet that women have had to fight to make it in men's professions and she should be more respectful of the Captain who had to pay the dues so that women like Jinny could be detectives on the force today. Jinny shouldn't be disrespecting her Captain with age jokes. (note: I missed some of their bantering because of my phone ringing, pizza delivery man, etc.
Anyway, Nancy seems so nice and smart in her interviews that it just seems weird to see her play such a screw up on this show. I think I read in an interview that even Nancy said her Division character was 'screwed up'.

4) I like the Magda character but I couldn't help but think that she is definitely a 'Lifetime-Television for Women' type character that lets you know that this show is definitely made for women viewers. I can't explain it but she is definitely the sensitive one hugging the mother and worrying about her son. She is a character that women with children can relate to. Her being bilingual kinda crosses the ethnic lines, too, which is good.

5) C.D. and Angela rock. I am really enjoying this pairing. Good chemistry. I am interested to find out more about both of their private lives.

6) I understand that the baby kidnapping episode was actually episode #5. In that case, what happened to episode #4?

Hmmmm, that's all I can think of for now.

I agree with you two that last night's episode was very good.

Michele35-Definitely agree with you about Jinny getting chewed out at the end by the captain and where the captain was coming from. A few additional remarks is that I think that one particular scene is going to be crucial to the "downward spiral" that Jinny will be/is on. They are slowly fueling it. I don't know if anyone watches General Hospital, but they do a particular good job of dealing with an alcoholic character who is constantly dealing with his alcoholism. I've been watching GH for almost 6 years and its been a constant battle. I hope the Division deals with Jinny's alcoholism and other problems in much the same matter.

The kidnapping story was very well done. I don't know about anyone else, but I was able to figure out the previous episode's crimes out fairly easy, but this week took a little more work. And I can't believe we have to wait two more weeks!! This is so unfair!!!

According to the episode guide on lifetime that was episode 5, so the next one they should backtrack to episode 4.

scene of the episode:

Jinny: You sure he's still up and moving around there, Cap?

Captin: Jinny do you really think that a crack about the age of your commanding officer is the smartest thing you could say under the circumstances

Jinny: umm.. probley not

Captin: thats what I thought

hehe well that cracked me up and the captin was that annoying this episode...until the end when she told jinny off...although she had ever right too also is there something about their past that we dont know about besides all of Jinny's cracks... cuz remember when the captin said that line that with given our history....?? well maybe just a thought

I absolutely loved the episode. I must disagree with you all about hoe Jinny got yelled at by the Captain. Although she did act impusively, the Captain obviously wasn't doin a dang thing - Jinny saw the oppurtunity, went for it, and it ended up being the best. She should have waited for the Capt.'s signal, but I think that it was instinct, not a deliberate defiance to her superior. The Captain shouldn't have yelled at her like she did - that was so mean!! I felt so bad for Jinny - she was really trying, and the FACT (yes, pun was intended) that she risked her life shows how dedicated to her job she is. Also, I don't think she was being disrespectful to the Capt., she was just joking around. No reason to be so serious all the time, even if the Captain does seem as if she has a serious case of PMS 24/7/365.

Also, I too love the chemistry b/t CD and Angela. They seem to be warming uo to each other more, I love the way they work as a team. I hope that they continue to develop this relationship, as it works well. Youcould tell there was a big step taken when the two began talking (as friends) about their personal life, ex having kids, etc. Speaking of kids, whatever happened to the cop who went in labor in the first episode?

Still on the topic of mothers, I thought Magda was great. She is so kind and caringt, yet tough as hell, like when she threatened to take the child from the guy's girlfriend if she didn't give information.

The whole show was great, and the superb casting only enhanced it. I now can officially say that I can add yet another show to my all time faves list. (Facts, CSI, Sopranos, 90210, Po5, Melrose, and now.....Division!

Oh -and did anyone notice how at the end when they were all at the bar Jinny had two glasses of scotch (spelling?) and a mug of beer waiting? Implicitly, they are continuing with that storyline, which I think is great.

Michele--

I actually agree with you about the Captain thing. I can't help but wonder if the Captain might have had a past which allows her to relate to Jinny more, causing her to possibly expect more out of Jinny. I'm beginning to like the developing intensity between the two as well. It will be interesting to see how the story plays out, because from day one you could tell they weren't 'best of buds'...

As for Nancy playing characters such as she does I think she's showing her broad range of talent. She really seems to be a light giong person with a great sense of humor. But like she said in the IP she is attracted to these characters because she has so many flaws herself...I think she plays them all beautifully.

The show is good, and hopefully as it goes along the cases will become more difficult to crack.

It's great so far!

You could be right about the Captain/Jinny relationship. I have a feeling the Captain may have had some 'battles' of her own and can relate to Jinny and maybe that is why she is 'busting Jinny's chops', lol. It should be interesting to find out.

NMK-
I was thinking the same thing about the cop/secretary lady that went into labor during the premiere episode. We haven't seen her in any of the other eps.

I'm really looking foward to when they branch out into the alcoholism storyline and how the captain figures into it. I love how they are building it slowly. This could get really, really, really good!!!

I was starting to like the Captain in this episode also, untill she started being a jerk to Jinny at the end. Granted.. Jinny might have deserved a little chewing out because she didn't follow procedure, but I think the Cap went a little overboard.

I think Nancy was the one who kicked down the door and knocked the gun from the bad guy's hand. The reason is because what I read in an article about The Division:

--
Not surprisingly, McKeon's stunt double, Heather Burton, has little to do on the set but watch McKeon perform her own jumps and tumbles. "I double for Gillian Anderson on 'The X-Files,' and she's so busy and tired that she likes me to do whatever," says Burton. "But [McKeon] wants to do her own stunts. She's very athletic."
--

Lifetime's really developing the different sub-plots well, and I agree about this episode being harder to figure out than the last one. I'm also really getting a kick out of the whole CD/Angela relationship. It would appear that they are growing on each other, but I hope they don't go all "buddy-buddy" on each other and lose the nice little tension/rivalry they have going. It's kind of fun to watch.

About Magda, I personally like her. She's an interesting character and she's being played very well by the actress.

Overall.. Great Episode!

Thanks, leslie, I will look up that article.

I know everyone seems to hate the Captain but I still think that she is being realistically portrayed. I know if you're a big Jinny fan the Captain probably seems like the enemy right now. At least she waited until all the other women had left the bar before she had her little talk with Jinny.
