Got these in an email from my cousin.
August 3, 2007 Baby Moose 12 Hours Old - Born in the middle of downtown Naubinway , Michigan in Michigan's Upper Peninsula , I have never seen a new born baby moose. This one was not even a half a mile from our house. The mother picked a small quiet neighborhood and had her baby in the front yard just off of US 2,at 5:30 am. Allen and I were out bike riding when we came upon the pair. The lady across the street from this house told us she saw it being born. We saw them at 5:30 PM. So the little one was 12 hours old. What an awesome place we live in to see such a sight.

Awwwww, what beautiful pics of those animals!!! God, how beautiful the baby is. I am surprised the mother even allowed the photographer to get remotely close.
What a nice way to start out the morning. ![]()

Im amazed that moose are tame enough in Michigan that they would pick someones front yard to give birth in...not that id think this is an everyday occurance! I hope momma and baby got back to the forest safely afterwards. @_@ ( It irks me that the hunters are probably waiting there, ready to blast these 2 away) The last pic is particularly amazing, the way you can see the bond between mother and child; who says animals have no emotions?

Aahh... a moose. The animal that kills or injures hundreds of people on Newfoundland highways every year.

The same goes with deer. They are a real pest especially in Northern Michigan. But they sure are beautiful! ![]() |
