"Match Game's" Brett Somers Dead at 83

Brett Somers"Match Game" vet Brett Somers passed away from stomach and colon cancer at her Connecticut home on Saturday. She was 83.

Somers, the grandmother of the Mary-Kate Olsen/Nicole Richie oversized sunglasses trend, was known for her dry wit and humor as one of the celebrity panelists on the memorable '70s game show, which experienced renewed interest in repeats on the Game Show Network.

Ms. Somers married actor Jack Klugman in 1953 and played his ex-wife on the long-running series, "The Odd Couple." Although they separated in 1974, the couple never divorced.

Somers is survived by Klugman, her two sons, Adam and David, and a daughter, Leslie.

First Charles, now Brett. She will be missed. I love match game and look forward to picking up the Match Game 73 DVD. Does anyone have it? Is it worth getting?

The Match Game DVD you're looking for is still selling. Now, if there's a Best Buy store in your neighborhood, you'll likely find it there. BTW, The Best of Match Game, Volume 2 will be coming out on DVD after the new year, so look for that, too.

Very sad news about Brett Somers -- I thought she was great in The Odd Couple.

That is so sad. I have fond memories of watching her on Match Game PM
and The Odd Couple as Blanche Madison.
