Angry Damn it, I got STUNG BY A BEE.

OW.

People who have been stung by bees in the past aren't kidding when they say the stings hurt - because they REALLY hurt.

How long does it take for the pain to go away? I got stung at about 6pm and it's almost 8pm now... Still hurts, but not as badly as it did.

Oh my god, that's seriously one of my biggest fears (and my damned dog always seems to want to do his business near all the bees when I take him for his walks!) I'm sorry you're hurting so much.

I heard mud takes the sting out

It can be scary if you're by yourself, find out you're allergic to bee stings and have no way to get to the ER. Now THAT would be crazy scary.

I'm okay now, but damn. It still hurts on and off, and it's a dull pain. Ow. My dad had to sprinkle meat tenderizer on the sting... that helped a lot.

You can see where the sting is, and how red my skin was afterwards:

Oh, poor bee... At least you survived... The bee was not so lucky...

The only time I've ever been stung is when the bee/wasp landed on me and I couldn't see it and I just absentmindedly swatted at it. Wasn't its fault... It was only defending itself.

The wasp survived. The bee didn't... Most unfortunate...

Thats because a wasp has a smooth stinger, and thus can enter and extricate it as many times as needed, whereas, a bee has a barbed stinger that stays inside its pray, and, the bee basically pulls his own body apart to release itself, thus dying soon afterwords.
Ive been stung a few times, if its any consolation, each time has hurt less than the last and the pain goes away faster too. In fact the last time, I pulled the bee out of my palm, myself and the pain was gone in five mins.

That's awful Allison. I've never been stung, and it's always been one of my fears. Maybe some cream or Benadryl spray might help too.

I'm sorry, Allison.

I've never been stung by a bee. Like everyone else, it is something I fear happening.

I'm sorry Allison. I was stung once on the ear when I was around 5 and I remember my Mom putting baking powder on it. It hurt like hell too. Luckily I've avoided them since.

I am TERRIFIED of bees. Even the way they just buzz and fly around gives me goosebumps. I go into a panic attack every time I see them swarming around outside.

I especially hate those big queen bees. I remember the first time I saw one of those.

I almost faint every time I see those huge bees. I did a web search to find the "phobia" name for fear of bees. Here it is - apiphobia.

Girlfriend, your title of your thread is funny as hell!

I am sorry you got stung. That sh*t hurts! I got stung last year by a DEAD BEE of all things. It was dead on the ground, I was walking around BAREFOOTED when I stepped on it. That damn stinger was stuck in my toe, I pulled it out and INTENSE PAIN CAME OVER ME. For over two hours it hurt!!!! That was my first time and it was so damn funny that it was a dead bee that stung me.

Actually, the more I think about it now, it might have been a wasp that got me. Bees leave their stinger in the skin, but wasps don't, and I didn't have a stinger to pull out. Weirdly enough, my dad got stung tonight too - on the inside of his thigh, ow!

It got me right near the bony part of my wrist, and I have the most bony wrists in my family.

Oh man, Irene, that's awful but hilarious! It just proves that even when they're dead, they're still dangerous. Hehe.

It's been 4 1/2 hours since I got stung, and the pain is pretty much gone, but still hurts if I touch it. I made it exactly 21 years and 11 months with never getting stung - so I hope that's the last time, lol.

Yeah, it might have been a wasp. The bees leave their stingers in you. That pic you posted... That looks awful!!!!
