Default Question About Laura's "Friend"

The episode I'm watching now has always puzzled me. It is from season 9, called "Love." It is the one where Laura'a "childhood friend" Jane Canfield comes back to Walnut Grove and falls in love with Isaiah. She is blind but has an operation to restore her sight. Isaiah breaks it off with her because he thinks he is ugly and too old for her.

My question is: does anyone remember Jane Canfield from Laura's childhood days? I sure don't, and I don't remember her having a blind friend either.

I hate that episode. You are correct. She didn't have a childhood friend who was blind. C'mon now, we seen Laura since she was what? 7 years old? Unless this was a friend from the Big Woods, but I highly doubt that since it was made to sound like that the girls and Ma and Pa lived virtually alone in the Big Woods. They didn't go to school. They were home taught.

Oh yeah, I saw that episode coming on today so I turned it off and went to do something else.

That girl's voice just gets on my nerves! It's almost as if it is painful for her to talk.
...But it is not as painful as listening to her.

As for her being Laura's friend. I suppose she could have been one of those people that we never see on other episodes(see "...and they were never seen again" thread).
Either that, or Laura just never wanted to be seen with her, so they didn't hang around much when there were other people around.

She should have been mute, not blind! I guess her voice is a turn-on to some people. Her name is Jill Schoelen and she dated Keanu Reeves and was engaged to Brad Pitt! I never heard of her before; the actress is just as much of an enigma as the character.
