I'm watching every episode in order from my DVDs. I'm up to the third episode of the third (and final) season. One thing I found funny was how the episode right after she gave birth to Amelia, Georgie Ann looked like she had never been pregnant before. I guess they do that in sitcoms, but it just struck me as funny.
Another thing, just as Ben is starting to develope as a character, they replace him with another Ben. Does anyone know why the first actor left the show? I also don't see why John, Georgie Ann and Billy Bob would just pack up and move. It just seemed forced. However, I've been enjoying seasons 2 & 3 more than season 1. With that said, I still enjoyed season 1 and thought that Senater Smithers was funny, and I liked George Lahti and Mavis Davis, heck after a while, I even got to like Dee Dee. But I like Madeline and especially Lonnie more. One thing that got to me was how the actress who played Madeline in seasons 2 and 3, also played (for two episodes) John's ex-wife's lover. She was also a therapist and I believe even made a same joke. In fact, they used a lot of people again, in different roles. The old lady from the season 1 finale, who dated Billy Bob, was in a season 2 episode. And Beth Broderick came back for a couple episodes in season 2, playing Dee Dee's sister. All in all, I'd say this was a good show. It wasn't the funniest in the world (the bloopers were a lot funnier than most of the episodes) but it has nice characters and of course the charming and funny John Ritter. So I'm enjoying watching the episodes.

The real reason why they had to move out of D.C. was because CBS censors said John and Markie were too sexy in D.C.

Well I've finished the series and now I'm kind of sad it's over. I think Lonnie's histerical. I usually don't like that actor in anything, but this show's the exception.
Lonnie: They don't even use his full name. They have it down as Blank Van Blank (Referring to Dick Van Dyke's name being censored in a Church bulletin). For some reason I couldn't get into this show when it was on USA in the mornings, but now I really like it and am glad it's all on DVD. They even made a reference to Madeline looking like John's ex-wife's lesbian lover (as I mentioned earlier, it was the same actress). So it was nice they did that. I missed Ed Asner in season three. He appeared once in season two, but not at all in the third season. You'd think that since Georgie Ann had a baby, he'd want to come over and visit to see his granddaughter. We can only assume he's done that off-screen. It's sad to think that there will never be another John Ritter sitcom. Because he was great in sitcoms. |
