Default Well. I'm officially without a job...

Yup.

My term with Americorps ended today. I signed my exit papers this morning. They won't pay me anymore. What I wouldn't give to do another term with them. But they don't have the funding to pay me so whatever...

How strange. Americorps was my life. Now its over. Strange. I have maybe $1000 in the bank. What sort of prospects do I have?

Short. To the point, because I just realize how scared I am and I just needed to let it out.

Damn.

Thanks.

I'm so sorry, Max! That's really a shame. Maybe you can pick up something part-time around town, at a coffee shop or a store, until you find another full time job?

I'm positive you'll find something, you're intelligent. My thoughts are with you.

I feel for you. It's scary when you have bills and suddenly no job. But don't worry...everything will turn out fine. Seems scary now, but something will come along. Just start checking the want ads.

I know what is like being without a job and little in the bank. One door just closed on you now another will open for you. I'll put a prayer in for you.

Where do you live, Max? Have you considered relocating? there is lots of work up here in Alberta if you are a college graduate. We have a bad labour shortage up here right now, and need all the workers we can get.

Max:

If you want to consider relocating, please PM me. I'll be happy to help you. I know few people in Calgary who are really desperate for workers right now, who are willing to commit to long-term employment. Don't worry about a work visa, you as an American will qualify for a NAFTA visa. The wages are pretty good up here too.

I went thru those times so many times in my life, I don't really know how I managed to make it. Now I've been working at the same job for over 25 yrs and the $$$ comin' in strong, but believe me, I had some scary times myself!!
It depends....what qualifications do you have?

Sounds like my Situation in June, the lack of funding caused them to let me go and I had $4000 in the bank that I was in the process of turning into $9000 but had to live off the $4000 all summer until I started working again in Sept. My balance fell all the way down to $700. I'm sorry to hear this happen to you because I can relate. I even cried in PRIVATE the day I was laid off because it never happened to me before. Which is currently why I'm in the process of getting out of NON PROFIT organization.

It happens in PROFIT organizations too. My media company is the fifth fastest growing company in the country and they still laid off people.
