It has been said that Desi kept Lucy off of TV talk shows because she was ill at ease in front of the cameras just being herself and not performing. But in the 70s and 80s, she made the rounds of all the major talk shows: Dick Cavett, Johnny Carson, Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin, John Davidson, Joan Rivers. But perhaps it was with Dinah Shore that she seemed the most relaxed. Here she is kicking back with Dinah Shore on "Dinah!":

Thanks for the clips. I enjoyed them. Lucy is sure different when she's not performing.

Yes, she was quite different than when she was performing, which I guess illustrates what a great actress she was. But now I'll post a couple links to Lucille Ball performing. |

I also saw some home movies where Lucy really seemed different. Even my 95 year old grandpa noticed. Her looks and facial expressions were as if she was another person. You're right, NovaRick. It just confirms what a great actress she was.
Ironically, Desi seemed more natural on the home movies, but was more "rehearsed" on the show. |
