Thread Closed??? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I don't get why sometimes when I go to reply to a post I can't because it says thread closed, what does that mean??? And how come it happens??

A closed thread is usually closed because it's off-topic (belonging on a different board) or there's a heated argument involved. TJ does this, it's part of moderating the boards.
