Default Do better looking people get treated better?

I was watching an episode of Dr. Phil(DP is the man) and he was doing an episode about whether or not better looking people get treated better in the real world as opposed to average looking or not so good looking people. I'm curious as to everyone's opinion. I noticed that when I go to a store, people come over to me right away but a few of my friends who are not the best looking get treated fairly well. Maybe it's me, I don't know.

i saw that episode too, it was very interesting.

of course some people are just rude, but i think most of the time, it's all in their subconscious...they don't realize that they're paying attention to some people and not others just because they're more attractive.

Good looking people do get treated better than average looking, and unattractive people. I have no doubts about that. I see it everyday. It's not right, but it's true, and it's the way it's always been.

I haven't seen the Dr. Phil special, but I do believe it is true. It's a very interesting theory to observe and study, actually. It has also been proven in other similar studies that attractive people do get noticed more so than average-looking or less-than-average-looking people. I guess it's because humans tend to pre-judge on the outside because that is what is noticed way before actually other non-verbals. It's a sad human behavior, but we humans can't help it.

Yeah I believe that, a extremely OVERWEIGHT person may not get hired because of their size or Someone who is not that attractive. Of course companies have to pretend that's not the case-lol

Like the people above, I saw that episode.

I think it's really gae too. I find that my service varies with what I wear. Like, If I wear something like a low v neck shirt then I get more attention, mainly from male employees. It's retarded.

Most definitely. I've read and seen of many studies that prove it. Dateline and similiar shows have done undercover work on this. I remember one woman put on a padded suit that made her look fat. People either ignored her or were rude to her. It's a sad commentary on our society.

to some degree, I think they are treated nicer, and are hit on more, but if it is between a hot stupid person and a smart ugly person for a job I think the ugly (or less attractive) person would get a job.

I've also seen that Dr. Phil episode. I think it's really sad that it happens that way, but it is very true. I see it all the time.

I do think attractive people get better treatment. I think we judge people by appearance way to much in this society. I place a huge amount of blame on Hollywood.

I'm guilty of treating attractive people better. When i was in college and worked in the food line as a server, I would only be nice to pretty women. If a unattractive women came to my line I was rude and not as helpful and friendly as I was with the pretty girls. But I was 19-lol
