Unhappy Kool and The Gang lead singer and founder has passed away.

Clayde 'Charles" Smith has passed away he was 57, Known as Charlie Smith,co-founder and lead singer for the soul,pop,R@B singer from Kool And The Gang. They were popular in the 70's with big hits and there signature song"Celebration" and Jungle Boogie,Hollywood Swing. He will be missed, he is survived by his life long partner, his wife and six children. You can bet there will be a Celebration for his life.

If I am not mistaken, he was lead guitarist, not lead singer. The lead singer was JT Taylor.

Oh no! That's my favorite group! Charles Smith was one of the five original members! The only way to celebrate Kool & the Gang is to induct them into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. It's been long overdue. Charles Smith btw was not the lead singer, he was the lead guitarist. When I clicked the title, I thought you meant James "J.T." Taylor, he was the lead singer.

RIP Charles.

Sad news indeed. The song, Celebration, is a classic at weddings, parties, etc.

Clyde Smith was one of the best lead singer of Kool & the Gang during the 70's and 80's, and he would be surely missed.
