Oh No The worlds worst dater: The story of my $200.00 date gone very wrong. LOL!!

WELCOME TO THE DATING WORLD LITTLE MEL!!!! LOL!!

Last night was a pretty crappy night for me to say the very least. It actually started off very good, as I got to spend some quality time out on a date with my girlfriend at a nice Chinese restaurant, and watching a movie. Unfortunately though, the trip home wasn't nearly as nice as the date. We have this thing in Oregon called "The Max," which is kind of like a Subway, only it's not underground, but along the public streets. Anyway, the trek from my girlfriends house to my house is a long distance, so she dropped me off at a transit center, where for two dollars, I'd be able to get a ticket home. Unfortunately, it turned out that the last train out to my house had left for the last time at 11:00 pm, while I arrived at the transit center at 11:10 pm. I had thought the Max ran until midnight, but apparantely on Sundays, it only runs until 11:00. So, for the next three hours, I was pretty much stranded on unknown streets, trying to figure out how the hell I was gonna get home. I had given $2.00 to some kid who had been kicked out of his house, and had nowhere to go, and so I only had a dollar left to make two phone calls to someone who might be able to pick me up. I wasn't about to call my girlfriend, because I knew she had to work early in the morning, which is why she didn't drive me all the way home to begin with, so I made two calls to a couple friends, but unfortunately got no answer. I spent the next hour or so wandering these unfamiliar streets, broke, without my medications, and confused as hell. I did meet some interesting people along the way, including a very nice transvestite who was also in a similar situation as me. Unfortunately, I was so screwed up at that point, that I couldn't even figure out what I could do for myself, much less how I'd help her, so he/she was off on her way without any help from me. In the end, I went back to the transit center, and looked in telephone booths to hopefully be able to find some change, and make a call, but I found nothing. I had totally given up, and with my head pounding, and feeling like I was going to puke, I just plopped down onto a bench, and figured I'd just have to lay there until 6:00 am, when the trains would start running again, and hope that I would be able to bum a couple bucks off someone for the cost of the ride. As I was laying there, barely co-herant, I heard a loud group of angry sounding people heading my way. I started to get nervous, but I was just too exhausted to even move. As I heard their voices getting closer and closer, and louder and louder, I heard another voice coming from another direction say:, "You got somewhere you need to get??". Suddenly, the angry voices that were approaching me started getting less and less vocal, until I finally heard them no longer. As I looked up in the direction where the friendly, pleasant voice had come from, I noticed it was a taxi, and the guy said: "looks like you're in a pretty ****ed up situation." I explained my situation to him, but was not feeling any better since I had no money. Then he said, well, do you have a credit or debit card?? Suddenly my groggy mind started thinking, and I reached my hand into my pocket, and to my amazement, there was my wallet. I was amazed because I had just gotten this wallet, along with my debit card, I'D., and other important info three months earlier, and this was the first time I had actually remembered to take it with me. Suddenly at this great news, I got a surge of energy, opened my wallet, and there before my eyes was my debit card. I was so excited, I leaped up off that bench, and ran to the taxi cab as quickly as I could. I ended up riding in the front with him, and found out he was originally from Argentina, and was also part Italian. He was a great guy, and we even became friends. About halfway through the ride home, I suddenly thought, "Oh ****, do I even have enough money in the bank to pay for this ride?? Fortunately, it turned out I did, and after about an hour and a half long cab ride, and close to $100.00 later, I was finally home!!!! I was so excited to be home, but that excitement suddenly left me, as I looked around, and noticed that all the cars in the driveway were gone, and I had forgotten my key. Turns out, My roomates and my mother were worried, and were out looking for me. So I just sat out on the front porch for the next half hour saying to myself over and over again, "what a ****ty day this has been!!" I started feeling pretty sick again, so I just laid on the porch, and suddenly thought I should go to the back yard. When I did, I saw that one of my roomate's tv's were on, so I knocked on her window, scaring her half to death, and finally I was in the house!!! I ended up telling her about a tenth of what I had been through that night, which is about what I have told all of you before somehow willing myself downstairs to my room, plopping into my bed, and sleeping for the next 14 hours. Pheeeew, and I'm still pretty damn exhausted too. Hell, just reliving this in my head has been exhausting. In the end, I ended up spending about $150.00 more for this date than I had anticipated, arriving home about five hours later, and gaining a whole new respect for all the medications I'm on!!! Even though this was a pretty crappy night, Iv'e been trying to look on the bright side of it. Had this not happened, I wouldn't have gotten the chance to meet my very first transvestite, so that was pretty cool I guess Ha ha ha ha ha!!! So anyway, that's pretty much the story on my exciting night of June 11 2006. As exciting as it was though, I have to admit, I hope I never have another one like it!!!

LMAO! I know it wasn't fun at the time, but I'm sure now you can look back and laugh your ass off at this...because I sure am!

One of my favorite parts was you befriending the friendly transvestite I think because it's just such a RANDOM thing to have happen, and in the midst of all of that, of all things!

Yeah, when those loud guys were approaching me, I thought it was going to get alot worse. At the time, I didn't even realize I had my wallet on me, and as sick as I was, there was no way I'd have been able to fight those guys off. Thank God for that taxi cab driver, because had he not showed up when he did, God only knows what would have happened.

You're right though Mel, I should have called my girlfriend. She spent a good part of the day yesterday scolding me for not giving her a call. LOL!! Hopefully I'll never put myself into a position like this again, but if I do, I'll definitely put my pride aside, and give her a call.

Yeah, I was actually spending the half part of my day yesterday laughing my ass off, as well as getting laughed at by everybody who I told the story to. Like you said, it's one of those things that when you're going through it, you feel like hell, but afterwards, it's a story that you and your friends will have the pleasure of enjoying for years and years to come!!

Just my opinion, I think your girlfriend should have driven you home, no matter how far. I'd do anything for mine and making sure he got home safely would be right at the top.

I appreciate your opinion, but in fairness to her, she actually did want to drive me home. It was me who insisted about 5 times on taking the Max, so it really is my own fault. She has a great job, and I just wanted her to be as fresh as possible for it the next day. Had she driven me, she probably would have only gotten about three hours of sleep, so I felt that taking the Max would be the right thing to do, considering I had no important plans myself the next day.

That's a great idea, I was thinking about that myself actually. I have been writing an autobiography about the last 12 years of my life, and the mental illness Iv'e suffered from, and some of my first experiences out into the real world after my 10 years of isolation. I'll definitely have to make this story one of the chapters in the book!! I think people might get a kick out of it. I wonder what I should call it??

Oh, I'm sorry it made you sad Janice. But I'm okay, and just chalk this up as a learning experience. I just need to learn to prepare better in the future to prevent these kinds of things from happening. Like Melanie said, it could have been much worse, so I'm just grateful things turned out the way they did.
