Unhappy Robert Donner (Exidor) Dies At 75

Robert Donner, who made more than 100 TV and film appearances over a 40-year career, died of a heart attack on June 8 in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He was 75.
Born in New York City, he grew up in New Jersey, Michigan and Texas and served in the Navy. He began his acting career after neighbor Clint Eastwood encouraged him to try drama, and starting with small roles in "Rio Bravo" and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance."

Often cast as a sheriff, bad guy or wild-eyed preacher, he went on to appear in features including "Cool Hand Luke," "High Plains Drifter" and most recently, "Hoot." On TV, he had recurring roles as Exidor on "Mork and Mindy" and Yancy Tucker on "The Waltons." He appeared on dozens of series, including "Bonanza," "Columbo," "Big Valley," "Incredible Hulk," "The Six Million Dollar Man," Murder, She Wrote," "Fame," "MacGyver," "Dharma & Greg" and "Matlock."

He was a founding member of Harvey Lembeck's comedy-improv group "The Crazy Quilt Comedy Company" and was active in celebrity golf tournaments.

He is survived by his wife Jill and two brothers.

Default I shall miss him....

....he was a very capable character actor (mostly in Westerns), but as "Exidor", he was wonderful! I still remember that line he gave when he tried to adopt Mork in 1980- "If we could take, what I just said, and BOTTLE it...we could double the corn crop in Kansas!!". It was funny the way he "bit" into that.......

"Exidor" (Robert Donner) was truly one of the great unsung TV characters.
Hilarious and unique.

Exidor always made me laugh with his inspired insanity. This is sad news. It's weird, because I just watched the season one episode the other day where Mork and Exidor are in jail and Exidor explains that he now worships O.J. Simpson.

That was a harmless and silly joke in 1978, but it's now it's just plain creepy!

Goodbye, Robert Donner...you will be missed.

Some funny Exidor lines (from IMDB)

Exidor: [Exidor is trying to get Mork's memory back] All right, Mork, put your hands in front of your face, and repeat after me. "Oh, no, please don't."
Mork: Oh, no, please don't... oh...
Exidor: [Exidor takes a poster off Mindy's wall and smashes it over Mork's head] Too late.

Exidor: [storming out of the dressing room, talking to his imaginary friend] What do you mean the mannequins want a coffee break? They just had one ten minutes ago and all they did was dribble.

And of course:

Exidor: Okay Mork, repeat after me. Oh wa
Mork: Oh wa
Exidor: Ta Jer
Mork: Ta Jer
Exidor: Kiam
Mork: Kiam
Exidor: (paraprashing) okay, faster now

I remember his first appearance, which was in one of the first two "Mork & Mindy" episodes. He was living in a Boulder slum building, and Mork stayed there after he ran into Mindy's dad.

Mork met Exidor and proceeded to lay a TV preacher routine on Exidor that was iiiincredible! BTW, at the time the televangelist was ione of Robin Williams's characters in his stand-up comedy act.

TV loved him

hard to believe he was that old

sometimes tv starts seem, in our minds, the same age as when they were on tv

rest in peace!
