Default Songs that sound alike...

Some songs sound very simular in key and arrangement. The most likely reason being, both songs were written by the same writer.

Here are some examples:
-----------------------

Paul Anka's"Put Your Head On My Shoulder"and"Puppy Love"

Roy Orbison's"Only The Lonely"and"Blue Angel"

Bonnie Tyler's"Total Eclipse Of The Heart"and Air Supply's"Making Love Out Of Nothing At All"(both were written by Jim Steinmen)

Sneaker's"More Than Just The Two Of Us",Toto's"I Can't Hold You Back Now"and Paul Anka's"Hold Me Till The Morning Comes"

I definitely see where you're coming from. Both are very similar in chords, arrangement, and style.

Silver Convention's "Fly Robin Fly" and "Get Up and Boogie." Both have that awesome disco violin recurring in and out and the title chant done by the ladies.

One of the most famous examples is ...

"He's So Fine" - by The Chiffons and "My Sweet Lord" - by George Harrison.

There was even a lawsuit (which the former Beatle lost).

Default Songs that sound alike

Two U2 tracks: The live version of "Bad" and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For". "A White Sport Coat And A Pink Carnation" by Marty Robbins and "You're So Fine" by The Falcons, at least the opening hooks to the two songs.

I just thought of two more pairs!

"I Want Candy" - The Strangeloves (1965)
"Willie and the Hand Jive" - The Johnny Otis Show (1958)

Both "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever" by The Bee Gees off of the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack sound the same at the beginning.
