Default Roseanne - The Complete Fourth Season DVD Review

Season Four of Roseanne aired on ABC from 1991-1992. "ROSEANNE" starred Roseanne as Roseanne Conner, a take charge but protective and loving mother. John Goodman plays her hardworking husband, Dan Conner. Laurie Metcalf plays her unlucky in love sister, Jackie Harris. Lecy Goranson is Becky Conner, the blonde boy crazy oldest child, Sara Gilbert is the angsty teenager Darlene and Michael Fischman is the sarcastic DJ, the youngest of the family.

This season sees the Conners going through more real issues, such as Darlene turning to black, Jackie becoming a trucker, Dan and Roseanne running the bike shop, Becky going on birth control, as well as friends getting married -- and pregnant, a trip to Las Vegas to see Wayne Newton! You’ll find all that and more in another hilarious season of ROSEANNE.

I just finished watching Trick Me Up, Trick Me Down on the fourth season dvd set and I was not impressed by the commentary. It seems to me that Roseanne would've sat down and watched the show once before they started taping to remember what was going on and most importantly- people's names. The way she dismissed people surprised me. She asked the people around her three times what James Pickens, Jr.'s name was (he played Chuck Mitchell), and when they told her she said "whatever". She also didn't remember Meagan Fay's name (she played Kathy Bowman). Then at the end of both commentaries, she says "are we done?" as if it was such an enduring task to sit there and talk about the episodes. I'm cool with the character Roseanne Connor, but the real Roseanne is not that hot.
