Question Nbc----->cbs

Quick Question. Does anyone know WHY the Hogan Family moved from NBC to CBS? I'd make a guess it was the ratings but I'm not 100% sure on that one. I mean, CBS picked it up only to put it up against NBC's dominant Saturday night lineup. If it was put on Monday night or any other night besides Saturday and Thursday it could've survived longer, probably. I don't know why CBS would buy a show a ruin it with a horrible time slot. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks.

hiya Madness,
Well I hate to admit this but after it moved to CBS I didn't watch The Hogan Family. In fact, I dont' remember watching it past 1989. So I guess that tells us something. ;0

If I remember correctly, they pulled it off the schedule around Christmas time (maybe after the Ho, Ho Hogans episode?) and then they burned off the remaining episodes in the summer.

They added two many characters and ultimately I believe that killed the show. If they had stuck to what was working on NBC maybe they could have lasted a little longer..

I see someone has been tinkering with the layout. And now I'm a hound. :->

Just playing around with things, I think some people might be insulted to be called a "Little Pup". Can you think of any sitcom related titles I could use?

well, the only thing I can come up with are names from Gilligan's Island. But if you think people would be insulted by "hound" I guess "Little Buddy" is out of the question.

Just to set everyone straight, the episode Ho Ho, Hogans, did not even air in December of 1990. The AIDS episode was last episode to air in December. It returned in July 1991 and they aired the remaing episodes including the Christmas episode.

I'm getting my information from TV Guide as well as my own memory. I collect TV Guides and I recently went through them to get airdate information for a number of TV shows including The Hogan Family. The final four episodes of The Hogan Family including, A Sneaking Suspicion, Ho, Ho, Hogans, A Family Affair and Isn't It Romantic? all aired in July of 1991. Another interesting thing I have found is that the airdates for episodes of Family Ties found on the internet are totally wrong. They do not correspond with the listings in TV Guide or even with the acutal day the show was on.

Thanks for the tips on the Family Ties original airdates - the ones I had were from epguides.com that somebody sent me. The Columbia House tapes had the dates for 40 of them also. I had no idea that some of them were off - epguides.com is usually pretty reliable.

I will look at your Hogan Family guide at tvtome.com also, thanks.

-----

I was just looking more at your Family Ties guide, do you have TV Guides complete from 1982-1989 - I am just very surprised to see those few episodes you have listed as having aired several seasons after they were supposed to (like the flashback episodes). Could they have just been repeated at that time and originally aired when you would think they would have been shown?

I don't see the airdates for those Hogan Family episodes on your guide, can you please post them here or email me or post here when you update it? Thanks.
