On Johnny Cash's album "RIDE THIS TRAIN," the introduction to
the song "When Papa Played the Dobro" not only mentions my home state but even my home town (!): Chester, South Carolina. [Chester is just a small southern town, but many of the scenes in the TV mini-series "Chiefs" (starring Charlton Heston) were filmed there.] Last edited by tv star collector : 04-29-2006 at 08:09 AM. |

I am sure there's lots more, but the only one I could think of right now is the theme from "New York, New York" with Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennet.

There may not be enough songs with state names in the titles, but there are place and city names. Mine are, for Washington State:
Seattle--PiL Rock'n Me--Steve Miller Band ("I've been through Arizona on my way to Tacoma..." Steve Miller is a local resident.) "The skies you ever seen are in Seattle"--Perry Como Jet City Woman--Queensryche (Jet City is the nickname for Seattle, the song was released when Seattle was still the HQ for Boeing.) Overblown--Mudhoney (the song, about the hyped-up grunge scene in Seattle in the early 90's, doesn't mention Seattle by name, but it's clear their talking out the town.)
