Default Could Scott have been a big movie star?

I read a few years ago that in the 80's Scott auditioned and begged to be included in the movie The Outsiders. Francis Ford Copolla turned him down saying he wanted an unknow cast, and Baio was already know from tv. After seeing Matt Dillon at the Oscars, I wondered if Scott had gotten that break if he would have had a bigger career including films, instead of being relegated to B films and occasional sitcoms. When you look at that movie and see Dillon, Cruise, Lowe and others now part of the hot male movie stars, you have to wonder. Baio was just as good looking. Was it lack of talent or bad breaks that left him where he is?

I think that depends on what Baio wanted to do. He already had his fanbase on Charles In Charge when it first appeared on syndication. So I think life's been too good for him in a way. He seem to enjoy being Charles as it went along.

Baio for a while was bigger than Dillion and Cruise in the 80's, if Scott was smart enough or if he really wanted to, he could have used his fame to get some movie roles.

But do you honestly think that Scott and Matt are equally talented?

I think Scott was just as talented as Matt and the others, but he took the easy way out using his teeny bopper appeal to make cheesie movies like Zapped. It made it impossible to take him serious as an actor. I think he made very bad choices on the projects he accepted.

He still can be, he is just as talented and better looking. I've seen everything he's done and he is even better in serious rolls and has won many awards starting at an early age up until the last award for " A Wedding For Bella" he was wonderful in it. I think it's a matter of luck, I wish his would change I'd love to see more of him. I think he's earned it.
