Post has anyone else noticed that younger people seem to use a lot of bad language?

as in cuss words swear words etc.

I don't know if it has always been like this but at school I hear more bad words than good words. It drives me crazy. I am not innocent on this, but if I do cuss its in private and its not that often. I just don't understand why people cuss at school all the time. They do it in the open around teachers around everyone and nobody does anything about it. I am a junior in high school, so I am young myself so I am in this. When I see Freshman cussing and so on it bothers me even more. I don't get what cuss words add to yourself. Could someone tell me if the younger generation has always used bad language all the time or is this a new thing?

I'm 17 now and when I was little, I wouldn't dare say any bad words! But there were always kids around me swearing. I finally picked up this bad habit when I would always hang out with my next door neighbor. My brother who is 15 is starting to pick this up as well but I'm trying to break him of it. He doesn't do it too much.

Ohh man, come to my middle school. Just today I was walking through the hall when everyone was let out and all I hear is fu**king this and that. I know I'm young, but like if there are times when I'm surprised, or I hit something, or if I'm mad, it'll slip out a lot, haha. I used to tell myself I never would swear, but I guess I broke it. But I don't swear like every second, so at least I'm proud of that.

Bill Cosby has mentioned that young black kids curse like truck drivers. He's appalled at what their parents would think until he hears the parents' vocabulary!

I grew up in an Irish/British family, and the family swears like a sailor. It's just normal to us. Not attractive, but normal. For example- I go up to my mother and say "f--k you!" and she'll say "well f--k you too!" I mean... it's just the way we are.

I am one of those.
Didn't swear in the past, don't now, and won't in the future. I consider it rude and unnecessary.
And when you think about it, swearing these days is at epidemic numbers.
A lot of people should read this book:

I'd rather they swear than drink and smoke. Calling someone a ****ing bastard isn't gonna harm their health.

Most people in my family deliberately go out of their way not to swear, and honestly, it just sounds <beep>ing ridiculous. It even did when I was little. I don't if my <beep>ing tendency to <beep>ing swear every third <beep> word has anything to do with that, but...

Karly's family sounds like the type of family that, at least in language usage, I'd fit in with

I am not saying everyone is like this, but I am sure that many of the people who use bad language does drink and smoke and stuff.

I wouldn't say that, I hear swearing can give you a dirty mouth. And dirt: unleathy.

I know drinkers and smokers that watch 'Gilligan's Island'. That CANNOT just be a coincidence.

All I'm saying is that if a teenager has to have a vice, I'd rather it be constant swearing than drinking or smoking or doing drugs, etc. Swearing may sound bad to some people, but it doesn't affect anyone's health or safety.
