Post Alyssa Milano WON'T be doing season 9

Rose McGowan has already stated that with her Charmed contract up at the end of the season, she's ready to move on. And now Alyssa Milano reveals the same sentiment. "I'm only contracted for eight seasons, so there definitely won't be a ninth year for me," she says. "I'll miss it. I'll miss everyone, my family here - the girls, my crew. It's been an amazing experience.".....

...."I would definitely consider doing another series," she replies. "Honestly, I think television has the best material out there right now. It's totally exceeding what the film industry is doing. So I'd definitely consider going back to TV. I think it will take me awhile to actually commit to something. Charmed has been eight years of my life. That's a long time. I think I'm going to take a long break, maybe do a couple of movies. And then I'd reassess." --from the next Charmed Magazine issue

So that leaves only one charmed one, Holly. Rumors are spreading that she's not signing on. But there wasn't any official statement from her.

I'm not surprised at all, a lot of us were surprised that season 8 happened in the first place because this time last year, all signs pointed to it ending in May 2005

So would I. I have a funny feeling she will not get one, however.

TVGuide.com: Is the sometime-rumored Kaley Cuoco/Billie spin-off an option?
Kern: Any spin-off is still an option, because no one has ruled out any options at the WB. I have heard nothing, the silence has been deafening. I've just been going about doing my job and trying to build up to a series finale, not something that's neither here nor there like last year.

TVGuide.com: So is this officially Charmed's final season?
Kern: Nobody at WB will commit one way or the other. I've heard nothing about it. As far as I'm concerned, this is it. Last year the show was held in limbo, but fortunately "the governor called" and we got another year. I wasn't able to craft a season or series finale [then], so I did sort of a hybrid, which to me was disappointing creatively. This year, with no contract for the girls [Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan and Kaley Cuoco] and no contract for me, the WB seems to be looking forward to looking for "the next generation" of shows. We're still an expensive show, and all those factors tell me that, here in the middle of January, I'm just pushing toward the series finale. It's too late for them to say, "We want to find a way to make a ninth season" — but it doesn't mean there can't be a spin-off.

It seems that long-running WB shows do get too expensive because of salary increases. 7th Heaven is being cancelled after ten seasons - not because of ratings, but because they're losing money on the deal. Hey, after 10 seasons in the TV business, I don't think anyone can complain.

Same goes for Alyssa and Holly, because they've been with Charmed for eight years since the beginning.
