Dear Nick at Nite Viewer Services,
I understand that Nick at Nite acquires the rights to the shows that it airs from the companies that produced them originally. With that in mind, I have a sitcom in mind that I believe would make a great addition to the Nick at Nite family: "Growing Pains," the hit 1985-1992 sitcom that made a teen idol out of 14-year-old Kirk Cameron. (FYI: Kirk is the big brother of "Full House" cast member Candace Cameron, which is a major factor in why Nick at Nite should add this show.) On the show, Kirk portrayed Mike Seaver, a 15-year-old hormonal teenager who spent more time clowning than being responsible. Mike attended Thomas E. Dewey High School, where he earned a reputation for being the class clown. At home, he was no different: he lived at 15 Robin Hood Lane in Long Island, New York with his parents--dad Jason (played by Alan Thicke), a psychiatrist; mom Maggie (played by Joanna Kerns), a TV reporter; his 13-year-old sister (and schoolmate) Carol (played by Tracey Gold); and their 9-year-old brother Ben (played by Jeremy Miller). During the 1988-1989 season, Jason and Maggie became the proud parents of a 4th child, Chrissy (played during the 1990-1992 seasons by Ashley Johnson). In the fall of 1991, another new Seaver was added in homeless boy Luke Brower (played by Leonardo DiCaprio). In addition to the safe little stories of dates, first jobs, and fun around the house, "Growing Pains" periodically tackled more serious issues than such 1950s sitcoms as "Father Knows Best" could ever imagine, including drunk driving, teen suicide, racism, and peer pressure on Mike to use cocaine. But unlike such shows as "All in the Family," "Growing Pains" dealt with these issues in a positive way, so that way parents could talk to their children about those issues and/or the dangers of them. Sincerely, Edward Bear |

I don't think they care about the biography on the show as I'm sure they know all about it....just ask them for the show and I'm sure they'll take it more seriously.
![]() And I agree with SBTB Geek, it's coming on DVD so I don't know why it matters. And also, I thought I heard about it coming to Nick @ Nite a few years from now, or am I wrong?

I assume Nick just bought the rights to one episode, which was aired last June as part of their 20th anniversary marathon.
BUY UP the season 1 dvd, because Warner's really eyeballs the sales, which is why Night Court Season 2 was not done. 1's sales were too poor.

I just read this for the second time. It's funny how you wrote that Kirk is Candace Cameron's (DJ from Full House) brother. LOL. Yeah,. that would really make them wanna get the rights to the show now. LOL.

I remember when Growing Pains was in reruns on Disney And when it was in reruns on ABC Family. I'd love to see it on Nick @ Nite. It can replace the 4 hours of Roseanne that airs every night.
I know its coming out on dvd, but my favorite episodes are like in the 4th season (when they are expecting Chrissy). |

Pavanbadal said awhile back that ABC Family still had the rights to Growing Pains, not sure if they still do, but if they do then N@N nor any other network wouldn't be able to air the show.
Anyways I agree with what was said, buy the DVDs, especially so we can get ALL the seasons out on DVD ![]()
