I'm outraged. Just outraged.

I really never even expected to find a thread here on this, so I'm glad there is, because I was going to post one to vent my rage anyway.

First off...I have to say that it REALLY makes me feel awful that with everything Cena does for the fans, they have the nerve to boo him so badly lately. And I could tell by his face as he came down the ramp that he was GENUINELY disappointed, and does not deserve this.

Secondly...I would have rather seen anyone, ANYONE but Edge walk out of there tonight as Champ. Edge and Lita utterly disgust me, and this has just fueled the fire 10x.

I was also APALLED at all of the people suddenly cheering Edge, after booing him previously in the night, just because he beat John Cena.

Awful. Just awful.

There is no doubt that Cena is no longer popular. Vince Mcmahon knows this. Originally, they (WWE) was going to wait until Wrestlemania to give Edge his match. However, Cena has been getting booed out of every building, so they sped it up.

I'm just outraged that somebody who not only does EVERYTHING asked of him by the company, but also does EVERY single thing he can for his fans can get such a reaction from people.

I guess fans got sick and tired of his Hip Hop routine.

It's not a personal reaction to the man himself....it's that the fans are simply fed up with having this "rapper" gimmick shoved down their throats at every waking moment...and a stunted version of the original gimmick at that. The original gimmick was good, but at some point, the writers messed with the character, essentially taking what was great about the character away. If he IS taking this personally (as you and others elsewhere mentioned by his reactions tonight), then I do feel a small degree of sadness, as it's not personal...it's just that folks are sick of the whole rapper thing.

I really don't think anyone should feel sorry for him, nor do I think he should feel bad himself - as he has a tremendous opportunity to either make one heck of a heel turn, or to evolve into a newer face, allowing for some interesting situations.

One problem that soured people on the gimmick is that, back when Cena was supposed to be a heel, the character was going around raising hell without a care...and the fans loved it, and so they cheered. The writers turned him face...and had him stop doing that. As that's what fans loved about him...enter booing. It's essentially Stone Cold syndrome, except that the writers this time aren't as talented, hence the problems

Oh my gosh!!! I don't think anyone saw this coming. Iv'e never been a huge Edge fan, but he has worked his butt off for a long long time to get to where he is, so I'm happy for him. Cena was WWE Champion within the first two years of his WWE tenure, and Edge has been there for 8 years now, so it's about time he won the Championship. Congratulations Edge!!

My thoughts exactly!

Geez, now that EDGE is Champion, that really does just open the doors for just about ANYBODY to wear the belt. Might as well give Viscera, Daivari and Mae Young a shot at it now, too.

I wouldn't exactly put Edge in that category. LOL!! I'm sure alot of people felt the same way you do now when Cena won the title so soon in his career.I actually think it's good that the WWE surprises us like this from time to time, otherwise we'd just get the same people winning the Championship over and over again. I think they started this trend when they had Eddie Guerrero beat Brock Lesnar for the title a couple years ago, which nobody expected, and Guerrero ended up being a great Champion. I hope the WWE continues to surprise fans, and keep them guessing.

Well I have to admit that, in a sick way, no matter how mad I am...a small (VERY small) part of me is a little bit happy, in a twisted way. How, you ask?

Well, I was GENUINELY shocked last night, and GENUINELY upset. I've never been so mad over a wrestling event in my life. And that's what I'm sort of happy about. I'm actually happy that for the first time, I've been supporting a Champion so strongly that I wound up being THAT outraged over the events that unfolded last night...if that makes sense.

But as a John Cena fan, one thing I am not happy about at all is his own well-being. There have been numerous reports over how upset he really has been over the insanely loud booing from the crowd in recent past; he does everything asked of him, and he often stays long after the show and signs autographs for all of his fans, and this is what he gets for it. If anyone paid attention when he was coming down the ramp last night, you could see genuine hurt feelings on that person's face from the massive heat he was drawing from the crowd.

Yeah, I hate it when the crowd turns on a wrestler so easily, especially when it's someone I like, like Cena. Some people may say though, hey, wrestlers turn on fans all the time, going from babyfaces to heels, so it's fair game. I can understand what you're saying though. Unfortunately Cena isn't the first wrestler that fans have turned on, and he definitely won't be the last.
