IT'S NO JOKE!
Nick at Nite Debuts Second Season of Hi-Jinks on Tuesday, February 28
Santa Monica, CA, February 3, 2006 -- Nick at Nite's second season of the hit hidden-camera series, Hi-Jinks, will premiere on Tuesday, February 28 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. The series' next thirteen episodes- in which adults play good-natured pranks on kids -- of all ages -- is being produced by Stone & Company Entertainment, with Leila Sbitani returning as host. Each week features a celebrity prank segment in which famous faces use their talents to play tricks on bewildered tikes. This season, actors Alan Thicke (Growing Pains), Jane Seymour (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman), Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men) and Tichina Arnold (Everybody Hates Chris), as well as sports stars Evander Holyfield and Tony Hawk are among the celebrities who have conspired with parents to prank kids.
"We are thrilled that Hi-Jinks was such a huge hit with our audience," states Sal Maniaci, Senior Vice President, Development and Original Production, TV Land and Nick at Nite. "We know that everyone -- from kids to teenagers to even parents -- are truly kids at heart, so we've decided to prank them too."
Each 30-minute episode features several pranks taking place everywhere from homes, malls and even schools across the country. Academy Award Winner Susan Sarandon, NBA All-Star Chris Webber, actress/model Vivica Fox and The View's Meredith Vieira were among the celebrities who conspired with parents to prank kids in season one.
The six-episode series rolls out as follows:
Tuesday, February 28 at 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT)
Alan Thicke (Growing Pains) tricks his 8-year old son and his friends by bringing them to a skate shop to get free boards. When they come back an hour later to pick them up, the shop has turned into a women's clothing store, utterly confusing the boys. Other pranks include a teenager's car disappearing from a car wash, a monkey suddenly appearing in a port-o-potty and a fake audition/scream test where a scary character actually shocks the kids.
Tuesday, March 7 at 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT)
Actress Jane Seymour (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman) takes her twin sons to a museum and surprises them with a new meaning of "pop art" when someone jumps out of the painting. Other pranks in the show include an elephant package delivery, a leaky ceiling that kids can't get away from and a fake job interview.
Tuesday, March 14 at 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT)
What if you are a new, rising celebrity and you are suddenly faced with the world's worst interview? Well, Tichina Arnold of Everybody Hates Chris sets up her TV sitcom son, Tyler Williams, with such a prank on this new installment of Hi-Jinks. Other bits in this episode include a single dad introducing his adult son to his new and bizarre girlfriend, a self-serve ice cream machine that turns on kids with over-flowing results, and a telepathic helmet that appears to give kids the power to move objects through the air at will!
Tuesday, March 21 at 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT)
Two-and-a-half-Men's Jon Cryer pranks his on-screen offspring, Angus T. Jones, in a bit where young Angus has to sign his autographs for fans, but the items he's asked to sign become more and more bizarre. Also in the show, a parrot in a pet store delivers funny insults to kids walking by, a dump truck destroys what would have been a teenager's first car buy, and kids visit a library where book shelves keep falling.
Tuesday, March 28 at 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT)
He was great in the ring, and then great on the dance floor, but now on Hi-Jinks, Evander Holyfield gets to see how good his poker face is when he pranks his unsuspecting daughter. Also in the show, a thousand-year-old mummy wakes up in a museum, a man falls though a ceiling and into a waiting room of unsuspecting kids, ad a dog has a bit of a problem with... gas.
Tuesday, April 4 at 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT)
Video game guru and extreme sports star Tony Hawk surprises his kids - and his fans -- when he test drives a vintage World War II tank and goes on a comical urban rampage. Also on the show, a priceless vase breaks with almost no effort and kids think they are responsible, a scarecrow comes to life with scary results, and a hot dog cart goes on a wild joy ride with Nick at Nite's Funniest mom winner, Darlene Westgor at the helm of the runaway cart.
The new episodes of Hi-Jinks are executive produced by Scott A. Stone (The Mole, Oblivious, The Joe Schmo Show, The Man Show, Fame) and Brad Kuhlman (Master Blasters, One Bad Trip, FM Nation). The series was created by Nick at Nite's Joe Boyd. Kim Rosenblum, Senior Vice President, TV Land and Nick at Nite, and Joe Boyd also executive produce. Ralph Sanchez is the Executive In Charge for the network.
