Default Canadian MP Wants Rapper '50 Cent' Banned From Canada

MP Wants Rapper '50 Cent' Banned From Canada

Thursday, 24 November 2005

Controversial US rapper 50 Cent should be prevented from touring Canada next month because he promotes gun-related violence, according to a Canadian MP.

Junior foreign minister Dan McTeague has called on officials to stop the performer from entering the country.

"This is not a question of censorship," he said. "This is a question of trying to protect impressionable young men."

50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - is due to launch a tour of seven Canadian cities on 3 December in Vancouver.

Canadian law decrees that anyone with a criminal record needs a special permit to enter the country.

"Under our laws he would be deemed criminally admissible," Mr McTeague told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

50 Cent in Get Rich or Die Tryin'
Get Rich or Die Tryin' is released in the UK on 20 January
50 Cent, who was shot nine times in a gang incident in 2000, recently released Get Rich or Die Tryin', a fictionalised portrait of his career.

Posters for the film, which depicted its star holding a microphone in one hand and a pistol in the other, were removed in some areas of the US following complaints that they glorified gun crime.

A fatal shooting at a Pennsylvania cinema where his film was screening was subsequently attributed to an old prison argument.

50 Cent's last concert in Toronto in 2003 was marked by a gun-related fatality outside the theatre. More violence occurred after a concert in Montreal.

I don't blame the MP, I wouldn't want him there either if he caused violence before. 50 Cent is a bad element wherever he goes.

Good call. Fiddy-Scent is a thug and a punk and he's taking people's money all the way to the bank. Not sure yet if Brian "Head" Welch, formerly of Korn has "saved" him yet.

Lawyers, Guns, and Money
by Warren Zevon

I went home with the waitress
The way I always do
How was I to know
She was with the
Russians, too?

I was gambling in Havana
I took a little risk
Send lawyers, guns and money
Dad, get me out of this hyeah

I'm the innocent bystander
Somehow I got stuck
Between the rock
and a hard place
And I'm down on my luck
Yes I'm down on my luck
Well I'm down on my luck

I'm hiding in Honduras
I'm a desperate man
Send lawyers, guns and money
The s has hit the fan

All right
Send lawyers, guns and money
Huh!
Uh...
Send lawyers, guns and money
Uhh!
Send lawyers, guns and money
Hyah!
Send lawyers, guns and money
Ooh!
Yeah!
Yeah
Yeah...
Uh!

50 Cent likes Bush.

50 CENT PRAISES 'GANGSTA' BUSH

50 CENT has made a surprise move by stepping forward to heap praise on beleaguered US President GEORGE W BUSH.

While Bush is facing growing criticism from American citizens and celebrities, including rapper KANYE WEST, former crack dealer 50 Cent has expressed great admiration for the Republican leader.

He says, "(The president) is incredible... A gangsta. I wanna meet George Bush, just shake his hand and tell him how much of me I see in him."

The IN DA CLUB rapper, who was shot nine times on the streets of New York City before finding fame, adds that if it wasn't for his felony conviction preventing him from voting, he'd have exercised his right in favour of Bush.

actually, I'm sure to younger people, 50 Cent endorsing Bush is actually a good thing. Maybe some of 50's teenybopper fans might think W. is "cool" now because 50 said so.

Remember how certain rock bands endorsing Clinton in 92 made him "cool". If a rapper who has sold five million with his most recent cd likes the president, you should be kinda glad Bush is getting an endorsement like that. It's not like Charlie Daniels or Marshall Tucker have sold those type of numbers in ages.

how come any news article that ever says anything about this dude has to mention that at one point he was shot 9 times... even if it's not at all related to the article.

why do some rappers feel the need to stay in the gutter after making it rich? 50 Cent has millions of dollars now, why is he still so pro-violence, you'd figure if anything he could try to renounce his days of selling crack and his violent past and put himself up as a role model of "look at the things I used to do, I've reformed and now I'm a superstar", if rappers took forth that type of mentallity, I wonder if street crime would drastically decline because people like Fiddy play a big influence on todays youth.

It is a good call.

Too bad the MP is currently out of a job, so his call was a little too late.

Happy late birthday by the way.
