I've started to read the 1975 novel"M.A.S.H Goes To Las Vegas",which I bought at a used book store in recent time. But it seems that this novel takes place after the Korean War.It appears that in this book,Hawkeye and Trapper John are both married civilians, having left the M.A.S.H unit years ago.
The funny thing is,this book had come out when M.A.S.H was still in TV production.Therefor,it would seem inconsistent with how the TV series ended, seeing as Trapper John left the show midway through the series run,and was replaced by BJ Honicutt, and was never seen or heard of again. ![]()

Richard Hooker wrote all the novels, exept the first one, as a, I guess you could say "an attack" on the TV series, which he hated.

Hooker (aka Richard Hornberger) wrote the first novel that the movie was based on. I re-read it last year. How are the follow-up novels, by the way??

I only read one years ago, "MASH goes to New Orleans" but I remember, it was pretty bad. It had nothing to do with MASH, and the only familer characters were Hawkeye & Trapper. It was set in the late 70s, and they were only one one page about a quarter of the way in, then didn't show up again until close to the end, and then just stayed in the background. Oh yea, Hawkeye mentioned that incident in the movie where Hot Lips was in the shower and the curtain "accidentaly" came down.
