I don't find the original show all that funny, but it has a certain charm and cast chemistry that carries it through some of the weaker scripts (much like "Happy Days"). But when I watched WHN this morning, I realized that whatever magic the original had did not survive to the 80s version. I don't know if it's because the characters are acting more mature, or because no one has really moved on with their lives (except for Mabel). Everyone just seems to be going through the motions, as if they're aware that the revivial is being done for financial, not creative, reasons.
