Default The spoof on Saturday Night Live

Who saw the spoof of Good Times on Saturday Night Live in 2004, in an episode hosted by Janet Jackson?

I know the only reason they did was because Janet was hosting, and she played Penny, but if they are going to spoof it, spoof the glory seasons when James was still alive.

Good Times was so much better with John Amos, I wonder if any of the SNL castmembers could have done a good James impression.

If anything, the sketch was pretty much based on the sixth season, since both the Florida and Penny characters were there, although they didn't have Keith's character there. The Bookman charcater was in the sketch, but not James. I think I might have included it on the Good Times E True Hollywood Story I sent you.

The sketch was kinda mixed because they still had Michael short and J.J. still wearing the hat, but to include Janet Jackson as Penny they set it up in the years after James was gone.

Speaking of SNL and Good Times, when Norman Leer hosted SNL in 1976, in his monologue they aired a film in which the actors from Leer's shows said good things about Leer to his face, but gave negative verbal signals behind his back.

However no one from Good Times took part in this film.
