more incomplete sets floating around

well i seem to have found two more incomplete sets floating around sit coms trade loop

columbo ----19 disc set is missing an epsiode

i got this from a member and i havent heard a word after a pm asking about it--

how completely typical


american gothic ----7 disc set is missing two epsiodes

an email to the provider yielded the classic excuse

well the guy i got it from said it was complete

and then a new one

i traded it to______ and they liked it, and 4 other people as well

so because the next person doesnt verify a set, then im supposed to be happy with a partial


this is a clear example of the reason i have unknown --to me -- traders send first

a near set is worthless to me, and not what i made an arrangement for

had it been listed as 20 of 22 eps, i never would have even asked about it


im not going to post names and make a fuss over these things

im just a little tired of this happening


so if you see either of these two--near sets-- make sure you would like a partial, beacuse thats what your getting


ill complete the columbo and be offering a 20 disc set very soon


and i will also be looking for a complete set of american gothic as well

if you have a complete one--not from retail--let me know

Loren i sent u mail, i have an 8 disc set of amercian gothic, it has all 22 eps not just 20, i got it off ebay last year... and i think i bought 2 differnet sets b/c i got a partial 1 at first and had to get another.... i guess the partial is still out there! eek!

as to the problem of all these partial sets lately... i guess we are all to blame. B/c we all assume the last guy checked it out...

WHAT I TRY TO DO NOW is this, unless i get the set from someone like Loren who i trust, I take it and go to epguides.com and check off each ep to make sure it is complete. Then I let the person I got it from know that too. I understand with a big set it is easy to miss 1 or 2.... BUT I have gotten some sets lately, COMPLETE sets that were missing up to 18 Episodes!!! That is just plain Bad Trading!

KEEP IN MIND those episode guides are NOT always right, for BOSOM BUDDIES they have 38 listed, and there were only 37 made, 2 of the eps are actually the same ep, but with 2 different titles for some reason! Errors happen.....

BUT I THINK THIS IS FAIR, if you trade for a COMPLETE set and do not get a complete 1... either the other party needs to make it complete or compensate you for it. There are some really rare things that a partial set is fine for, but if you are buying it to trade or sell, and need it complete... then it is no use to you if it is not complete, and I think it is fair to send it back and not trade in that case.

Simply saying "I didnt know" is not cool. It is your job to know! I have done this before too, sent a set out that was not complete, and that is why I try to double check all new sets coming in, and if I have 1 going out, that I have not checked ever, I try to check it real fast also as to not just pass a problem on to the next guy.

as i explained several times

i do not sell single discs--period

i only trade single discs, thats the only way i can get filler things for my collection

no one will sell me singles at a low rate like i sell sets

look at it this way

go into the store and buy a 12 pack of your favorite soda, its $ 2.99 for a 12 pack. but a single can is $ 1 each, so $ 12 a 12 pack, due to the extra handling and effort on their part

there is lots of extra effort in getting a single ready, i use double and triple duplicators, i can produce probably 9 discs from sets, in the same time i make your one single disc

therefore if im going to do all that work, i want something in return that will help my collection--thats why i ONLY TRADE for single episodes or discs

yes you got a very sweet deal for the mr belvedere near set that i had, now i added two more discs and its complete for the aired episodes, you owe me 4 discs from the balance of our previous trade, add two more discs i need to that and you will have your item that you want. just find 6 discs, for me.

eli, your getting mad at me becasue i will not sell you something, and all i will do is trade for it, isnt that a what a trade site is for ?

here how nasty i am, when i get the other columbo episode, ill even hook you up with it so your set is complete--i have done this with lots of incomplete sets i have fixed

all i wanted from you was to complete a set .. i would had given you some type of worth while compensation to do so... if i had more stuff to trade you ... i would had ... so i offered to send you money for the hassel .. i did not care if it was 3 bucks a dvd or 9 bucks a dvd ... i just wanted to complete that set ...

blanks anything ... but when i upgrade my sets .. i always offer the add-on discs to trading friends ... if they have nothing i want .. i try to figure something out .. don't just drop them off at needs-ville.

i seriously tried to explain why i dont sell singles

i never get my stuff completed, or add to my collection if i sell singles

its my only way to get people to come off of some stuff, or go to someone else that i cant work with and get something to trade me

if i get something to add to my junk, ill do the extra work and look for this and that--what ever it takes

and please remember, i didnt try to charge you more, i said--i dont sell singles

with the columbo deal we made, you could have picked 19 discs of what ever you wanted, without restriction from the normal trade list

but you choose other things

i have a lot of items on wanted lists and just plain general wants, many of the items are not great things, or hard to get rare items, they are just things i havent put a priority on getting

im sure you have plenty of chances to find something i need

also i never mentioned your name in regards to the missing columbo episode

so i wasnt putting it on you at all

it was a simple warning to look out for two more incomplete sets makeing the rounds, bringing the total to about 25

and since i found the columbo epsiode from another trader and had to find them something tough from their list for, ill just excuse that as well

i cant be all things to all people, and i surely dont fill in other peoples singles without getting something i need in return, thats just plain not going to happen
