Freaks and Geeks and Firefly are two I've been planning on checking out for a long time, and I will eventually check them out for a relatively cheap price, but I have a feeling I will end up hating myself for investing time into two shows which just abruptly ended after less than 20 episodes (even tho Joss is turning Firefly into a film franchise)
what are other shows you guys would recommend for me that I might not be familiar with? |

My first recommendation would be Lost. That is of course if you haven't already seen it (or own it). I blind bought it, and just finished it. It was great!!! Also you might enjoy Veronica Mars if you haven't watched it yet. Also you can never go wrong with Scrubs.
I hope I have been some kind of help to you. If not then sorry for wasting your time. ![]() |

But anyway, I think you should get Freaks And Geeks next, John. It's time. You've waited long enough.
And Tim should get Undeclared when he gets the chance, though he's probably still mad at me for taking almost two years to get into Arrested Development. ![]() |

the thing that keeps holding me back from F&G is the whole knowing it didn't even last an entire season and that there isn't a snowball chance in hell there's going to be a Family Guy type situation with it, same thing has kept me from getting into the world of Firefly, but at least with that a movie (Serenity) is coming very soon.

ok guys, I'll pick F&G up on Tuesday when I pick up DH. But it's going to come at a price: if I don't like the show, Brad's going to have to buy "Britney And Kevin: Chaotic" and watch it, LOL!!!! (or you can buy a season of Nick And Jessica: Newlyweds instead)

Well, I'm late, you've already made your decision. So I guess I can forget about ranting that you've heard nothing but positives concerning Freaks and Geeks, why the
would you let the fact that it was 18 episodes stop you from getting it. I can spare you the rant that those episodes are 18 of the truly greatest episodes of a series ever produced for television, too good in fact for television. I won't rant about the brevity of the series not being indicative of the quality, which was extremely high. You've already made your decision. A smart one.

I already got DH (I couldn't wait), but I know FYE is having a 20% off TV-DVD sale going on, so I'm going to use that time to get both F&G and Firefly tomorrow.
I won't watch either until I finish up DH and Curb Your Enthusiasm (I got seasons 1-4 from that sale a few days ago) but when I do, I will let you know. It's kinda funny that I've been on Stacy to check out Popular for a year, and he's been telling me to check out F&G, and then we both decide to check the shows out at the same week (since BB has the Popular sets for almost 50% off). I also picked up Footballers Wives season 1 on that sale but I am going to put that on the backburner of shows to watch because I just had a curiousity about it, and I probably will stop after series 2 since that's when the two guys I like leave. well, I just checked out the first F&G episode, I had finished a disc of DH and decided to stick it in since I had wanted to see it for a long time.
Some observations: -Linda Cardellini seems like a really good leading actress, a lot more character development than she had in the other roles I've seen her in. -it's funny seeing James Franco playing a James Dean rebellious type character considering how conservative and black-tie he is in the Spiderman movies. -Seth Rogan is very much playing a younger version of the same character he played in 40 Year Old Virgin (which was also by the same writer), hard to believe he was only 17 at the time -Millie also played on Buffy's last season as one of the potential slayers. I immediately IMDB'd her the second she came onscreen because she has the type of long face that is instantly recognizable. -Alan looked exactly like this burnout from my high school who got expelled for smoking weed with his buddies in the cafeteria at lunch, when I saw him, immediately the memory of "we're just smoking a joint, man" (what he said when the principal came up to them) sprung up and I started laughing. -Kim is a superbitch, I'm hoping to see her and Lindsay catfight it out -it was cool to see Ron Lester ("Sugar Daddy" from Popular) on here too, since those two shows premiered the same season and very similar to each other, he was the big guy (well, he's not big anymore since he had gastric) who knocked Haverchuck in the head and Schweiber in the crotch during dodgeball, except on Popular he was a "good guy", lol. -I immediately recognized Jason Segal as Alyson Hannigan's fiance in that new sitcom they're in. -I've never seen the guy who was Biff in Back To The Future in another role until now. -I am surprised Eli is the guy Claire dated who turned out to be bisexual on "Six Feet Under", he looks so totally different on this. He looks like Cody Kasch on this. -I like Sam the least of the "Geeks", yet he's the central character -"Come Sail Away" is the only Styx song I like (Mr. Roboto is alright in a "this is so terrible it's kinda good" way but that's not the same, lol) -way too much of the geeks and not enough of the freaks So far I think Schweiber is my favorite character. I can see the Haverchuck popularity but maybe I will really join the cult of the character after seeing subsequent episodes. Last edited by Dean Winchester : 09-22-2005 at 03:34 AM. |

nobody has even bothered to reply to my post, I was expecting to hear at least imput from Vash and AKA.
I'm even more surprised that nobody bothered to go "that cute guy from 40 Year Old Virgin is in this" to me when trying to sell me on getting F&G considering Seth is definately my type, lol. |

Sorry, John. I didn't see the post until just now.
I'm glad you seem to like it. Keep watching; it gets even better. Seth Rogen's Ken is actually my favorite character in the series. He's a funny guy (and he's now a writer for Da Ali G Show). He's also in Undeclared, and wrote a few episodes of that show. |
