Default One reason I think season 5 was not that good.....

I think they just ran out of topics for episodes.

I think the first four seasons covered a lot of the poor and ghetto life story lines.

Can anybody come up with any other topics that Good Times didn't cover that dealt with living in the ghetto? I can't think of none.

it would have been nice to see Thelma have a little job on the side and have an episode around her dealing with the opportunity of working full-time or staying with her studies.
having Thelma get into some kind of trouble. I mentioned this before. Not real big trouble, but maybe hanging with some crazy girl and getting mixed up with something that would cause her to get punished.
Hmmmm...can't think of any more right now...

i remember the executive producer saying he got all the episode ideas from the newspaper during season 3. So I wonder why they couldn;t do that for 77-78 season

I have season 1-4, and just finished 5. The problem with 5 is that they wanted jj to be the focal, I noticed that jj always entered 1 or 2 minutes after the show starts and receive a major applause.

I think season 5 could have been much better if we understood the family's economically standing (as the season progressed, they had more 'well to do' artifiacts). It was mentioned that jj had a job, but nothing more later. They could have written some good story around friends/workplace/school, but they missed major opportunities that would have allowed them integrations from previous experiences.
