BOB DENVER --- lots of rare dvds of this legend!!!! - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I can't believe that Bob Dever is gone. On a quick personal note, I live in NC and Bob lived a few hours away in WV. I met him one time a few years back at a McDonalds. He motioned for me to come sit with him when he saw me looking at him. We sat and talked for about an hour and 45 minutes. He was really kind and intelligent and a lot more mature than you would think. Great sense of humor too!!!

A few years later he contacted me via email, and I sent him a copy of the 2 tv movies, THE CASTAWAYS ON GILLIGANS ISLAND and THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS ON GILLIGANS ISLAND... he also got the Professor, Russell Johnson in touch with me and I sent him copies too. Both were very glad to get good copies of these classics. And both sent me some nice autographed items in return. It seems silly to be so sad over a tv stars passing, but I will miss him a lot. Although I only met him once and talked to him a few times on the phone, I grew up with him as my little buddy too. REST IN PEACE BOB.

Great story, Lamont! I always find it disappointing when I see an actor in person or on a talk show & find out they are jerks in real life. Similarly, it's always nice when you find out they are really nice in real life. Bob Denver sounds like he was truly a special person.
