Cool Dual protests square off in Crawford

I'm really surprised nobody has brought this up yet.

Dual protests square off in Crawford
Demonstrators take sides over Iraq war along a dirt road in Texas

CRAWFORD, Texas (CNN) -- A dirt road divided hundreds of supporters and protesters of the Iraq war as they rallied Saturday in near-100-degree heat outside President Bush's Texas ranch.

About 1,000 Bush supporters -- more than the population of Crawford -- poured into the area for their rally. Many of them arrived in a caravan from California bearing the message: "You Don't Speak For Me, Cindy!"

The founder of Move America Forward, Howard Kaloogian, accused Cindy Sheehan, the sponsor of the anti-war protest, of encouraging the very insurgency in Iraq that killed her son.

"The terrorists that are watching Cindy Sheehan's protest believe that this is something that might topple the current administration." Kaloogian said. "And I have a question that I want the media to begin asking Cindy Sheehan: How many more American soldiers are going to die because you are giving hope and encouragement to our enemies?"

Across the road, more than 1,000 people showed up to support Sheehan, whose son Casey died in combat last year in Baghdad's Sadr City. She has been holding a vigil at a site dubbed Camp Casey in honor of her son near the Bush ranch since the president began his vacation there earlier this month. (Watch video of Sheehan's speech)

"I'm going to be sad to leave on August 31st," Sheehan told the crowd. "And you know what? I won't be escaping. I'll be going, and we're going, to take Camp Casey to Congress."

Among those in the Sheehan camp was folk singer and social activist Joan Baez, who mingled among the crowd in a white cowboy hat with a purple flower in the brim.

One pro-Bush demonstrator was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of interfering with the duties of a police officer.

Sheehan, of Vacaville, California, wants to question Bush about the U.S. invasion and to urge an immediate withdrawal of U.S. forces.

She is a founding member of Gold Star Families for Peace, an anti-war group led by relatives of fallen troops.

This week, Bush commented on the fallen soldiers during a speech in Salt Lake City.

"We will honor their sacrifice by staying on the offensive against the terrorists," he said.

CNN's Ed Lavandera contributed to this report.

I was actually invited to participate by a friend who was helping to organize housing for the "new" protestors but was unable to attend due to prior commentments. I heard it was a great success as over 1000 people actually made it to Crawford, not even talking about the thousands that made part of the trip but could not come on to Texas for different reasons.

“You Don't Speak For Me Cindy"
Support The Moms of Our Troops
By Marie Jon'
MichNews.com
Aug 26, 2005

Sheehan's comments were recorded on video by Veterans for Peace, a group pushing for Bush's impeachment. (Editor's note: The video of Cindy Sheehan is approximately 30 minutes long, and requires several minutes to load, even with a high-speed connection.)

Though they don’t receive nearly the amount of coverage that Cindy Sheehan has enjoyed, America needs to recognize the sentiments of its Blue-Star and Gold Star Mothers. Blue-Star Mothers are those who have grown sons and daughters serving in the armed force, and Gold-Star Mothers are those who had sons and daughters who have died while serving their county in the armed forces.

The other day a Blue Star Mother took up the cause to speak out against the lies and distortions of Cindy Sheehan. Deborah Johns represents the patriotic Blue Star Mothers. Blue Star Mothers along with Gold Star Mothers from all over California are gathering to protest words and actions taken by well publicized anti-war activists for the Democrats and the “cut and run” crowd.

Cindy Sheehan and her ilk will have to face these mothers that have plenty to be proud of and plenty to say to the one who has messed on her own country's doorstep while denigrating the name of her son Casey Sheehan, a hero who died in Iraq a year ago.

Most Americans do not understand that it is against regulations for those in the armed services to voice their political views. As a result, our troops In Iraq and Afghanistan have felt totally helpless as the media and a number of those in our legislative halls speak out against their Commander-In-Chief. American troops are also very angry at the way their mission in Iraq has been negatively portrayed in the media. These unwarranted attacks discredit their good and noble efforts in Iraq.

I spoke to a Blue Star Mother in Modesto, California who expressed her deepest feelings. Strangely, this mother's views were a bit of yesterday being repeated. The attitudes of some reminded her of the darkest days of Vietnam, with troop bashing from John Kerry and the ugly anti war antics of Jane Fonda, who was only too pleased to become a “poster child” for the Vietcong!

In the late 60's it was the anti-war, “cut and run” crown that denigrated our troops who were honorably serving their country in Vietnam. Not surprisingly, our media used the very same despicable tactics then that it is attempting to use now, often portraying those who served in Vietnam as a bunch of drug addicted losers.

Certain movie producers recreated our honorable vets as crazed baby killers who raped Vietnamese women. And who can forget how John Kerry brazenly lied about his fellow troops during that congressional hearing? Nor did he ever apologize for his miserable actions. Ultimately Kerry, as well as Jane Fonda, aligned themselves with the communists in Vietnam who were brutalizing and killing their own people.

As the result, the incessant attack by our own media against the war helped to foster and fuel an anti-war sentiment among the American people who eventually turned away in disgust. We lost the war because we lost all hope and resolve to finish the noble job of saving the innocent ones that needed us so much. These very same Vietnamese people were left to die and suffer under the communism that completely overtook their nation. And to this day, Vietnam is under communist rule, thanks to the anti-war activists.

The mothers of our troops fear that when their sons and daughters come home that they also will be spat upon and accused of heinous actions, as were the Vietnam veterans. This is why politicking the circumstances of a war is worse than disgusting and divisive. It is a total betrayal of the country.

God bless our troops who have willingly joined to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yes, it is very true that the Iraqi people of all ages openly show their appreciation of the troops and their fine and noble intentions. America has done well in setting the captives free, more than 50 million of them! Iraq represents a whole different picture from the Vietnam “quagmire” that the left in this country wish to convey. The real story in Iraq is seen among the people who enlist and serve as to protect their own country. Soon, the proof will be in their own constitution, Iraqi style

Let freedom ring, thanks to Blue Star Mothers and Gold Star Mothers who gave birth to, and raised, America's best and bravest. Cindy Sheehan, you don't speak for these mothers!

The Blue Star Mothers are setting up a special tribute to Casey Sheehan in honor of his service to his country. You can participate in this endeavor.

Laid to Rest
by Lamb of God

If There Was A Single Day I Could Live,
A Single Breath I Could Take,
I'd Trade All The Others Away.

The Blood's On The Wall,
So You Might As Well Just Admit It.
And Bleach Out The Stains,
Commit To Forgetting It.
You're Better Off Empty And Blank,
Then Left With A Single Pathetic Trace Of This.

Smother Another Failure
Lay This To Rest

Console Yourself,
You're Better Alone,
Destroy Yourself,
See Who Gives A .

Absorb Yourself,
You're Better Alone,
Destroy Yourself.

I'll Chain You To The Truth,
For The Truth Shall Set You Free.
I'll Turn The Screws Of Vengence,
And Bury You With Honesty.

I'll Make All Your Dreams Come To Life,
Then Slay Them As Quickly As They Came,

Smother Another Failure
Lay This To Rest

Console Yourself,
You're Better Alone,
Destroy Yourself,
See Who Gives A .

Absorb Yourself,
You're Better Alone,
Destroy Yourself.

See Who Gives A .

See Who Gives A .

See Who Gives A .

Failure.

If There Was A Day I Could Live,
If There Was A Single Breath I Could Take,
I'd Trade All The Others Away,
I'd Trade All The Others Away.

Hey, Captain, do you have a song for the one million Iraqis who died under Saddam's regime?
Or the 3,000 who died on 9/11?

I'm a people watcher, i think you can get a lot more out of a person by there actions than their words. I don't know why but when I watch Cindy Sheehan, I can't help but think she is a bit insincere in her actions. I can't help to think that she's enjoying the attention more the honesty of her cause. You seems to be enjoying herself a lil too much for me to take her seriously. I see someone who has a new ambition of being a folk hero or something. I dunno why, but it bothers me when someone goes to be with her sick mother who just has had a stroke only to return a few short days grinning from ear to ear like she could care less about her sick mom. I think she is a bit nutty, i think her argument is elementary and regurgitated at best! Please someone shut her up! I want my T.V back!

I just hope it doesn't get too volatile on either side. Last thing we need is a war in our own country.

From what I heard there were no problems whatsoever. Infact when a guy collapsed due probably to heat stroke, BOTH sides came forward to help the man.

Just because people have different opinions does not mean they can't get along.

I could barely breathe
Just an empty impression
In the bed where you used to be
I want a kiss from your lips
I want an eye for an eye
I woke up this morning to the empty sky

Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky

Blood on the streets
Yeah blood flowin' down
I hear the blood of my blood
Cryin' from the ground

Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky

On the plains of Jordan
I cut my bow from the wood
Of this tree of evil
Of this tree of good
I want a kiss from your lips
I want an eye for an eye
I woke up this morning to an empty sky

Empty sky, empty sky
