Stephanie
The second of the 2 episodes that aired today was the first Stephanie episode. Julia Duffy guest-starred as Lesley's cousin in the episode. Of course, the producers were so impressed by her performance and chemistry with the cast in this episode that Julia Duffy ended up replacing Jennifer Holmes and being with the show for 7 seasons.
I have a book about cast changes in TV series. In the book, it says the reason why the producers let Jennifer Holmes go was because her character and Mary Frann's character were too much a-like. What they needed was a character completely different from Joanna. They certainly got that with Stephanie. Next week, TNN is going to start showing the second season. They're burning through 'em fast! |
