perhaps the best known "Jump The Shark" inducing moment tends to be people blaming Ted McGinley for joining the cast of the show.
Does anyone think he gets an unfair shake over this? For example, Married With Children lasted six more seasons after he joined, and when he joined, the show was entering its peak ratingswise. To many people, people remember the Jeff Darcy episodes more than the Steve ones. Shows like Happy Days and The Love Boat were out of their peak when he joined the casts, and HD did last four seasons with him onboard, so it wasn't like he was the iceberg to the Titanic. He was brought in to fill the Richie void, and the show still managed to do "ok" with him. I think Ted just seems to have a knack for joining shows after they've become established, but I'd say the long-running success of Married With Children after he joined is point enough that Ted isn't the death knell for a show, but people like to put the blame on him. |

He joined "Dynasty" in 1986 and it went on for three seasons, which is a pretty good amount of time.
And "Hope & Faith" is gonna be enterting its third season this year too, with him still in the cast. Those people at JTS just have to blame someone for everything, and they think they're funny but they're not...

Ted did a great job on "Married With Children." IMO the show was funnier during the years he was on.

Maybe we should just consider him a pinch hitter in the late innings

Yea all the shows he joined would have JTS around that time whether if he was in it or not.

One of the best posts at JTS paints Ted as an operative secretly working to bring bad television shows down from the inside!
I think he cops a lot of flak for his roles on The Love Boat and Happy Days but Married with Children really disproved the rule. As for Hope and Faith - Ted is the only watchable one in that awful show.
