I have 1 extra set of Howard Stern's original TV show from the early 90's. i.e. "The Channel 9 show"
Below is a brief description of the show for those who have never heard of it. ------------------------------ "Very few people know of this classic, since it was carried on superstation WWOR; unless you had a cable system that carried it or lived in the New York City vicinity, you may have only heard about it. In many ways this was far superior to the later CBS Saturday night syndicated show. Social commentary was mixed with satire--the hypocrisy of a real-life priest accused of exploiting the teenage boys in the shelter he ran was immortalized in a spoof of a K-tel type commercial. It parodied songs such as Ringo Starr's "Photograph" with "I like to take boys and make photographs...I can't believe that people think I'm so nice." A politically incorrect classic. Who can forget loveable Stuttering John getting berated by baseball legend Ted Williams--for asking him if he ever broke wind in the catcher's face! It was a little rough around the edges, like an upscale public access show, but the obvious low budget and cheesy set only added to its mystique. But do not be fooled; a lot of hard work and funny writing went into this. As the radio show gained more exposure over the years through syndication, there are probably many newer fans who are even unaware of the existence of the "Channel 9 show," as it was often called." |

I have them all too. Quality is so so. I haven't found anyone who has a real nice set. Most of the ones that used to go on Ebay were 2nd and 3rd generation copies. Someone would buy a set and make a set from those to sell on Ebay, so there were so many with average quality at best. Like you said, it was very limited in where it aired, so not many people have it. It was a great show! The political incorrectness is refreshing as they take shots at most subjects that people considered sacred cows. It was about time someone did it. Stuttering John with his scripted interview notes asking celebrities stupid questions was great too, especially as he stutters while reading note cards. I believe he caught OJ Simpson playing golf one day and as he was playing, he walked up and started asking him questions related to the his trial. The questions he was asked implied he was guilty, so OJ got REAL mad and started coming after him and the camera man. Great stuff!

Hi,
I got a set of this one that was on a ton more discs(maybe 25 plus) than the usual Ebay suspects, I remember the quality to be pretty decent. Great show and I love the political incorrectness, we need more of it! Tom D. |
