Wow this is an old post! I have been trying to find out about this. I would love to get a copy of the song used in the show. I noticed there are a lot of big names that covered this song. Any info?
Thanks

It was done by Kay Starr. Now here's the trick. The version played on the show was a slightly different version than the one that actually came out. I,m tring te get a copy of it on mp3. I'll let you know if I get it.

...that because of Jackie's strong ties to Capitol records (for whom he recorded all of his "mood music" albums in the '50s and '60s), he was able to get an "alternate take" of Kay Starr's rendition of "The Hucklebuck" {she too was an exclusive Capitol artist until 1955, when she signed with RCA Victor}
for that "Young At Heart" episode. Whenever he suggested his recording of "Marilyn" [the instrumental he "wrote" and recorded in '55 because of his perpetual fondness for Marilyn Taylor, whom he finally married in 1975] be used in one of the filmed "HONEYMOONERS" episodes, it WAS used...three times, in fact. The first was the background music heard on the "Late Show" sequence of "TV Or Not TV" (a slightly faster version of the recording), again during the "costume party" sequence of "The Man From Space" [an alternate "Dixieland" version], and the "restaurant" scene in "A Man's Pride" (this time, played at the correct speed). See, every time Jackie managed to sneak that music into an episode, he was trying to tell Marilyn Taylor, "I'm still in love with you, and I'm not forgettin' ya!!!". He had to wait 20 years before he could finally prove it to her. ![]() |

No, I couldn't find it on the net. A DJ up in NJ emailed it to me. I can do the same , but I will need your email address. I was able to find this song on the net by different artists, but not her. Just drop me a PM.
