We have seen this car at various car shows. And for years after we sold it we would see our car on the roads around here.

I had a 1985 Chevrolet Caprice a decade ago, which is around the same size as the '77 Impala/Caprice. Not as nice as this one, but still nice. Hard to believe these were once considered a downgrade from the Chevy's of the 1950's and 1960's, because of the downsizing.

The '91 Chevy Caprice. The ugliest car that Chevrolet ever manufactured! I remember the first one I ever saw. Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!! It ended up being
a big seller though. It was widely used as Police cars.

We had this 1978 Corvette. It was cool but I was always uncomfortable driving it. It sat very low to the ground and it felt like I was in a space capsule. It was not a very family friendly car. We bought it new for $8000.00! I was very upset with my hubby for spending so much on a car! We kept it for a year then traded it in for our first Chevette(we had 2). My hubby worked at GM and he was always trading cars.

Nah, the 2002-2005 Hyundai Sonata beats that in the ugly contest hands down. It also beats the 1996-1999 Ford Taurus. Not that I didn't think it was ugly myself when it first came out, but it's still better looking that the two other cars I mentioned.

When that '91 Caprice came out I think that was the beginning of the "rounded" body styles. It looked like a boat!(or Noah's ark!)

I always thought the Celebrity was ugly because of its abruptly cut-off tail.

Those Monte Carlos were sure popular back then. I remember seeing them all over the place.

If I was shopping for one, I would look for a '70 with the optional 454-4 bbl engine. (It would not be a daily driver!)

Car Life magazine tested one of those with a 2.73:1 axle ratio and three-speed automatic transmission and took it up to 105 mph in 2nd gear! Observed top speed was 132 mph. The later Monte Carlos (up to the mid-'70s) had nice interiors and styling but a big drop in power and I prefer lots of power! (The '70 454 engine was rated at 360 hp and 500 lbs-ft torque.)
