Default The world's biggest peon

I guess when it comes to people asking me if I can work for them, I'm pretty easy going, because I know someday I'll need the favor returned. But I've come to the realization that I am the peon at work. If someone needs someone to work for them, they always call me first. And I always say yes, because deep down I'm a nice person (what a terrible trait). But last week and the week coming up, I will have worked 3 days for the same woman who hasn't been to work since the week before last. Wait...I worked for her once that week too. I'm getting really tired of being used. Money is nice, but this is making me pissy.

Anyone else feel used at work, or at school?

YES YES YES!! I never speak up when its my time to go. What pisses me off, is that Ill do a 9-5 shift and a bunch of people who do 12-5 will all get out on time and Im still hanging around at 5:20. I have no problem with staying a few minutes late if they ask me, but I friggan hate being ignored. I dont like being taken advantage of. Lately though Ill ask as soon as its my time, because Ive come to the realization that if I want to get out on time, I have to speak up. But honestly, I shouldnt have to. Theyre the ones who run the front end and it is THEIR job to manage us - if it were my job Id shut down myself and leave. Aside from today [because it was a holiday] I cannot remember the last time I actually got out on time. In the end its only more money for me, but I hate being ignored and I HATE seeing everyone else leaving when they came in hours after me. The minute Im supposed to get out and Im still there I honestly turn into death and I feel like throwing things. I hate speaking up because I feel like a bitch and I shouldnt have to, but I just find it to be all unfair.

I was taken advantage of alot at my last job. Whenever somebody called in sick, I was always asked to stay and work some of the night shift. They never asked any of the guys I worked with during the day because they knew that the guys would say no. I mean the extra hours didn't hurt but I've been working all day, and now I have to work a few more hours. I didn't want to say no though, because then I would feel bad. Don't ask me why!! And I really didn't want to say no to my district manager if he asked. I just got sick of it all and found a different job.

my brain gets used at school all the time. the sad thing is that no one is usually able to help me. most of the time they just dont know either but in some cases they dont seem very willing.

Oh man...I'd be just as pissed as you are. That is totally unfair. But I'm not one to speak up either. I'll go all off and swear and whatnot at home, but then I get to work and I act all happy and stuff.

Fortunatly, time is never an issue. There's never anyone left by the time 5:30 rolls around. Plus I'm in charge of locking the doors.

Damn...I was the same way. I remember in JH, we had this paper to write. I got paired with an idiot, so I ended up doing the whole thing, and I gave him an A.

What gets me is that they KNOW what time I get out. It happens to everyone atleast once, but it happens to me like everyday. My Dad even said they know what time Im out [Ill see them look at the book and Ill be all.. YAY I CAN GO NOW, then they... walk away], but theyre milking me for what Im worth since I wont speak up. So now I do. Lets see how today goes.

I get to work today, and 2 people I work with are all like, "She's using you." Cuz she came in today to get a couple shots in her knees and Laurie told me she walked out just fine. Plus, all we do is sit at a desk! You have bad knees and can't even sit? That makes no sense. My grandma has terrible knees and she goes to work all the time and she works retail, so all she does is stand. So they're training me to say no more often; toughen me up.

We'll both conquer all!

This same thing happened to me during a class during senior year of high school. I did 90% of the work, but all of us recieved "A's" on the project.

She calls me later in the day, acting all like it wasn't her knees that was preventing her from coming to work...it was the cold that she's had for a week. Well, now, make up your mind. She keeps telling me she'll work for me when I need it, but I already tried that once and I couldn't get a hold of her. Oh sure...

Ugh wow. Ask her to work for you again, and if she says no then just tell her no next time she asks you. Im sure she'll get the hint.

I know if I didn't do the work no one else would. It always made me angry that even though I'd do the work, or at least most of it, everyone would get the same grade even though they wouldn't deserve it.

I hated pairs/groups for that same reason.
