is bea really the type of person like her role pushey and cold?

Hhhmm...I didn't really see "Dorothy" as cold. Sarcastic, yes. I doubt Bea Arthur is like that in reality. She's probably a bit sarcastic, but I'm sure she and "Dorothy" and very different (this is merely specualtion, mind you).
I think it would've been too grim and morbid for Sophia to die. Also, I think sometimes writers, producers, directors, etc...of a show have the future in mind. They think about keeping an audience after the show has ended and gone into reruns. It might be hard to watch a show in reruns when you know that one of the main characters dies. |

That's another reason why I know they will never do a reunion...
When the series began, Sophia was already in her 80s. By now, she would be 100+. It's highly unlikely that she would be her "old" self, plus even if the character was still alive would it be that interesting. So, it's not gonna happen. ![]()
