Don't get me wrong, The Addams Family was a good show. However, The Munsters is ten times better. If for only one reason - Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster. He was funny without the "spooky" jokes. Herman was just a great character. The perfect man-child.

The videos are numbered but the early ones aren't as good. #3 is where I really get going.

The Munsters...
Everything about it was spookier- the characters, the house, the pets (a dinosaur/dragon, of all things!). Even the Munsters cars were stranger-looking.

I'm a convert to The Munsters. I was 11 when both premiered in the Fall of '64. Back then I was huge fan of The Addams Family; I even collected the bubble gum cards! I liked it because the characters were so creepy and strange. But now The Munsters wins hands down! It's just a lot funnier and Fred Gwynne is hysterical. I think the chemistry between him and Al Lewis made them one of the best comic duos on TV.

Fred Gwnne & Al Lewis first developed their chemistry on "Car 54, Where are You?"

In answer to the question, I like "The Munsters" better.

The Addams Family ... all the way. Loved it as a kid, love it today. It needs to be released on DVD, now!

The Munsters, I've watched many many episodes, it's okay, just not as good. The Addams Family is higher class. So to me, I see the Addams Family as fine wine, while The Munsters is beer.

I liked them both but I'll give the edge to The Munsters.

I remember them being together in "Car 54" a couple of years before "The Munsters." But the real chemistry there was between Fred Gwynne and Joe E. Ross because they worked as a team, while Al Lewis was another policeman in the same precinct. By the way, I remember seeing Paul Reed, who played the captain in "Car 54," on an episode of "The Munsters." I loved "Car 54" and would like to see it again! Sorry for going off the topic.

I loved "Car 54, Where Are You?". In the Munsters' movie, Herman shouts "Phone Batman. Car 54, Where Are You?"
