JANUARY 16, 1967
“I Was A Teenage Monster” first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC as the 18th episode of The Monkees. The sponsor was Kellogg’s™, and the song on hand was “Your Auntie Grizelda”, written by Jack Keller & Diane Hilderbrand and produced by Jack Keller & Jeff Barry. JANUARY 16, 1971 "Mijacogeo" (a.k.a. "The Frodis Caper"), Episode No. 58 of The Monkees (prod. #4722, first aired on NBC March 25, 1968), was repeated @ 12:30 p.m. EST on CBS, with a new song added: "I Never Thought It Peculiar," written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart. JANUARY 17, 1970 "The Wild Monkees", Episode No. 42 of The Monkees (prod. #4765, aired on NBC November 13, 1967), was repeated @ noon EST on CBS, with a new song added: "Looking For The Good Times," written by Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart. JANUARY 22, 1968 "The Monstrous Monkee Mash" (prod. #4767) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC as the 50th episode of The Monkees. The sponsor of the week was Yardley Of London, and the song heard was "Goin' Down" written by Diane Hilderbrand, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz & David Jones and produced by Chip Douglas. Trivia Footnote: Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In premiered directly after the firstrun telecast of “The Monstrous Monkee Mash” on NBC. Monkees writer Coslough Johnson is the brother of Laugh-In regular Arte Johnson. David Panich, one of the writers of “Monstrous Monkee Mash,” was also a celebrated member of Laugh-In's writing staff. David Jones was later seen in a February 10, 1969 episode of Laugh-In (in which he plays Romeo to JoAnne Worley's Juliet in a Valentine's Day sketch), and The Monkees (sans departed Peter Tork) guested in an October 6, 1969 episode of the series (in which they portrayed Spirits Of '76, medieval knights, and salesmen). JANUARY 22, 1972 “Monkee See, Monkee Die”, Episode No. 2 of The Monkees (prod. #4705, aired on NBC September 19, 1966 and May 1, 1967), was repeated @ noon EST on CBS.
