Hello all,
I was wondering why there is no participation from the surviving cast members for the commentaries of Three's Company. I can understand that perhaps Suzanne Somers, regrettably, may not be allowed to do any, but what about Joyce DeWitt, Richard Kline, or some of the directors? And in later seasons, why not have participation from Priscilla Barnes, Don Knotts, Jenilee Harrison, Anne Wedgeworth, and perhaps a guest-star (if it's related to the episode that's being commented on)? Is it too painful for some of them to watch these episodes since John Ritter's passing? I for one would like Priscilla to do a re-visit of sorts (almost as much as I'd like to see Suzanne) since she sounded pretty bitter about her 3 year experience on Three's Company, calling it the worst three years of her life. Perhaps seeing an episode or two could remind her that some of the time was good (if indeed it was). I think a commentary featuring input from both Joyce & Suzanne would be a nice way to pay tribute to John, putting aside whatever differences to celebrate the show's legacy. I know this won't happen, but it's nice to dream. Heck, if Dixie Carter & Delta Burke (of Designing Women) can heal their long, bitter feud and become close friends again, surely there's hope for Joyce & Suzanne. The very least is that they could agree to bury the hatchet long enough to be civil to one another. Either way, it'd be nice to have some cast/director input. Chris Mann is ok, but he's still just a fan when you come down to it. He's not enough of an authority if you know what I mean. Not to dismiss his contribution (I love his book!), but a lot of his insights he can only speculate about. He wasn't there and doesn't know any more than we do (except for whatever the cast members may have told him in interviews). But sometimes memory can't be trusted, and perhaps seeing an old episode could jog one of the cast's memory about something that has since been long forgotten. Either way, I want cast participation. I want to have insight from those who were there... Ed

I think it would be nice to have Joyce, or any of the cast members do a commentary for one of the episodes.

i agree but Sussane Somers?!?!? who cares to have that 2 face, greedy, ungreatful, backstabber on the commentaries? calling a show that fed her and her family for 3 years and put her on the map in hollywood "the worst three years of her life" !!!puhleez. ![]() Last edited by MoonFlower : 11-12-2004 at 05:55 PM. |

Is there a problem? I'm not too sure about how to take this post and wish you'd make yourself a bit clearer. Do you think it's silly to want cast participation for commentary or is it something else? Confused... Ed |

Suzanne wasn't the one who called it the worst three years of her life; Priscilla Barnes said that on the E! True Hollywood Story. Suzanne has had a lot of good things to say about her time on the show, aside from her final season there. I, for one, would like to hear commentaries from her along with the rest of the cast.

That's your perogative pal, but she's come forward and has admitted that she didn't handle the raise thing properly. As a result, she was fired and ostracized for over 10 years in Hollywood. Methinks she's paid her dues, wouldn't you say? Besides, I wouldn't want my sins from all the way back to 1980 to haunt me either. If no one was allowed to let bygones be bygones, then no one is bound for heaven. Also of note, many have tried to dismiss what Suzanne had said about the producers (how they set everything up and how sexist they were). Isn't it interesting that when Joyce & Priscilla (who claim not to be part of Suzanne's camp) talk of the producers and their methods of running the show, they basically support Suzanne's claims? Without even meaning to, they have lended credence to what Suzanne had said all along. Look at how the producers even treated Norman Fell & Audra Lindley, not to mention Richard Kline (he was written out of a few shows for making a suggestion), Jenilee Harrison (she was treated HORRIBLY) and Anne Wedgeworth. Pretty crummy if you ask me. And how about how the cast was treated when it was decided that the show was to turn into Three's a Crowd? This was something that even the late, great John Ritter had a part in, and Joyce remained bitter and angry with John up until he died it seems. Do you care for people with their values? I'm not defending what Suzanne did and how she & her husband handled things, but she paid the price. End of story. I think to condemn her for that even now is a little harsh. If fans were only allowed to love those actors who were saints on the show, I highly doubt we'd have a show to talk about... Ed |

Sussane put everyone elses job in jeopardy b/c she wanted more money, it had nothing to do with the way she was treated. she keeps saying how ashamed she is of her behavior why hasn't she apologize to joyce, Richard Kline etc? Why did John Ritter have to aproach her? puhleez! who needs that 2 face, greedy, ungreatful, backstabber on the commentaries?

I think she did apologize to Joyce.. well she tried to at least. John Ritter didn't approach her, his wife did. Suzanne and John's wife Amy met in the bathroom at a party and Amy suggested Suzanne say hi to John and she did and that's how it happened. Yeah, Suzanne was pretty greedy about the money, but Three's Company is over now! It was like 20 years ago.. Suzanne knows what she did is wrong so let's just drop it! And about the comment with Joyce being bitter to John, I doubt it's true. Joyce loved John, even with what he did to her about 'Three's A Crowd', she obviously forgave him and she really adored him. |

if she did apologize to joyce, how come when whe was asked the question about the emmy reunion she said she hadn't heard anything about it n she was asked "even if it doesn't happen will u still call joyce n make up" or something like that n she said something like "well, maybe, i don't know, but u know how it is..." so when was it that she apologized or (and i really like to know about this)"tried too"? and why should we drop it b/c u say so? i have a right to say if a want to see her in the dvds or not and why. Frankness ahead:
Will you please just shut up? You're making no sense, and obviously don't have any real knowledge about the whole contract dispute. |
