Cool It's those cans. He likes those cans!

This just cracks me up. My husband and I hit the polls today, then the grocery store. We've got Stop & Shop around here as a major food chain.

We drink Maxwell House coffee, French Roast. This week it's on sale for 99 cents. It's usually $3.19 a can. There's a limit of four per customer. I saw it in their flyer the other day.

We went into the store and each grabbed a basket, and put four in each with a few other items. He got all CIA on me and insisted that we go to different registers. Ooookay.

We get to the car, and he insisted that we go back in and do it again. Remember, there's a four item limit. So CIA man and I head in and do it again. Different registers of course. We got home, and I put my 16 cans of coffee away. Saved over $32. Love it.

Then, he said, I'm going back for more. He just headed out on his coffee mission. Mind you, we're not rich people, but money is not an issue for us.

Just thought I'd share. I wouldn't be surprised if he walks through the door with a wheelbarrel full of coffee.

How many cups did have between trips?

Perhaps a switch to decaf might slow him down and free up some shelf space.

Oh, and when I read the title of the thread I didn't expect it to be about coffee.

Or any canned goods for that matter.

Man, I've got to get my head out of the gutter.

Actually, it's a takeoff from a line in the movie, The Jerk, when Steve Martin is getting shot at in the gas station. He hides next to a soft drink vending machine. The bullets miss him and hit the soda cans, at which points he yells, "It's the cans. He hates those cans."

Everybody on these boards knows me and my coffee... so Janice! How would you like a daughter for a few months? I'm a good kid; I'll clean the house and take care of the cat in return for coffee....

My lovable nutjob brought home eight more cans. So we've got a total of 24 cans. One a week, we're all set for six months.
The sale ends Saturday. I'm in trouble.

For me, a can of coffee lasts us maybe 4 weeks. It helps that I keep the coffee in the freezer - it keeps the coffee fresh.

That sounds exactly like my family when Dr. Pepper goes on sale. If it's ever 5 12 packs for $10, we're at the store all weekend.
