I need to get this out and this is the only place where I can. Why am I sitting in my dorm room at 9:00 on a Saturday night crying? I hate this, I want to give up, I don't want to be here. I have no one to talk to right now, I have no one to call and I don't know what to do with myself. I want to go home, I don't want to be here.
I'm sorry I just had to vent somewhere.

It happens to practically everybody in the beginning. Starting out in a dorm can be really rough stuff. Most everybody that goes through this says it really turns around after you're used to it and get a chance to meet new people. Just hang in there and I'm sure you'll feel better soon. |

Thanks, that's what I keep hearing from people and I hope it's true. Even though I have a slight social anxiety problem which makes it hard for me to associate with new people, I hope I'll do ok. |

My sister felt the same way when she went to college. You'll adjust soon don't worry.

You'll be fine, don't worry. I guarantee there are a bunch of others up there who feel the way you do. Once you meet some new people and start keeping busy with your classes you'll probably be having the time of your life.

do yoyu have any foreign language classes?
Since you are always grouping up with people in them to work on new words and things like that, they make for a great place to meet people. I have a Pocket Billiards class also, that is a pretty good place to meet people too ![]() |

I had the same problem my first year. It got easier once I accepted the fact that I get nervous in social situations, stopped worrying about what other people expected from me and just took care of my own business. I'd go to the library, read a lot of books, took extra long showers, studied a lot, and took very long walks. That gave me the "alone time" I needed, and it kept me sane...well, mostly hehe. Things will work out. Just know that you'll have to do a lot of adapting. Good luck !

I feel for you. I spent the first 2 months of my freshman year doing the same thing. The first week all I did was cry. I begged my dad to let me quit and move back home, but naturally he wouldn't let me. At least I had my roommate to talk to (we were already friends). It did get better after awhile, but never real great because my roommate went psycho. So I guess if you can hang in there for a little while, look into transfering if you'd rather be closer to home, or at a different school. I transferred closer to home and I was so much happier. |
