I also like that his songs have a good beat and good music and you can actually understand what the hell he is saying. He raps, but its not mega fast. Its got a good beat and its something you can dance to.

I don't care much for rap music, but on the occasion, I will find a rapper or song that I really like. Nelly is one of them. Like Crystal said, you can actually understand him. And his songs have a good beat, too.

Nelly gets a positive review from the NY Daily News:

The ticket to club heaven

Rapper's double CD is funk paradise

NELLY
"Sweat" & "Suit"
(Universal)

Some rappers have cool flows (Snoop Dogg), some gruff (DMX), some witty (Eminem).

But no one has funkier rhythms charging through his verse than Nelly. When the St. Louis rapper bobs and weaves between his rhymes, he creates such maddening beats, you don't need even a hint of a bass line or a whiff of melody to let you know what to do with your hands and feet.

Want proof?

Check out "Flip Your Wings," the first single from Nelly's terrific new double CD. As much a dare as a song, the cut features nothing in the verses but a few clanging bells, a tease of a rhythm and Nelly's words. But the ebb and flow of his wordplay bats out a beat that can't help but make you move.

By the time you get to the chorus of this track, which was produced by the Neptunes, you're more than halfway to club heaven.

You'll hit that destination often during this daringly long two-CD set. While nearly every double CD in history should have been slashed in half - Guns N' Roses' "Use Your Illusion I and II" could have been quartered - three-fourths of Nelly's set clicks.

The rapper meant to divide the disks into a party platter ("Sweat") and a more romantic rendezvous ("Suit"). But there are plenty of club-worthy cuts on the latter CD, and even Nelly's "mature" CD isn't exactly choirboy stuff.

Fun remains his muse - a fact he established in earlier smashes like "Hot in Herr" and "Ride Wit Me." Here again, Nelly maintains a sexy vibe that never turns crude.

It's good that Nelly's flow and tunes have such appeal, because lyrically the guy has nothing to say. His greatest verbal contribution to the world so far has been to make the hard Rs of the St. Louis accent as well-known as the Beatles made Liverpool's nasal cadences.

On "Sweat," Nelly uses his Midwest flow to great effect on songs like the reggae-tinged "River Don't Run" or the '80s-style groove "Playa."

The "Suit" CD has more R&B melodies, as highlighted by a guest shot from Ron Isley in "She Don't Know My Name" and one from neo-soul shouter Anthony Hamilton in "Nobody Knows." One cut even has a cameo from country's Tim McGraw, but it's too likable to rate as a sellout.

The set's best cut, "Tilt Ya Head Back," openly embraces pop in its terrific matchup with Christina Aguilera. The cut involves a bit of a cheat: It swipes the probing bass line and punching horns of "Superfly." But the song has an original melody, Aguilera's voice has never sounded stronger, and when Nelly throws in his bouncy flow, it creates a beat that will have you dancing for days.

I really didn't feel COUNTRY GRAMMER. Now that he has gone more mainstream I can stomach him. I like the way him and JAHIEM perform together on that one song.

U like the song he has with Jaheim but u don't like Country Grammer? LOL. Country Grammer is better than that trash song with Jaheim. Nelly isn't a singer & he needs to stop trying to sing.
